Sweepers of Noida throwing dust all over
While I appreciate DM and Administration’s focus on crackers, attached is the real cause of pollution in Delhi and 38% of it is road dust.
My simple question is we have had this 600+ PM for over 2 years now yet Noida Authority doesnt have mechanised street cleaning. Yesterday morning the sweepers were throwing so much dust with their brooms it was so bad. more

Dharampal ji, it seems you wish to move back to 19th century or even earlier. I am sure you would understand that if sprinkling is done first then sweeping cannot be done properly, or if sprinkling is done after sweeping, it becomes effective only if sweeping is done so well that there is NO dust left before sprinkling. Further, do we have enough water to do normal sprinkling? Unless the sprinkling is done in an extra fine spray which is often done in the middle east countries, the consumption of water would be about 10-15 more. more

In my priority if money is available for for buying machinery, we should arrange more water rather reducing man power employment. Sweeping is done to collect foreign items (garbage) and not collecting dust, which is only disturbed and not lifted. I have practically seen fire brigade sprinkling in the morning which used to settle dust leaving the work of sweeper easy. more

This is a beautiful analysis of causes of PM 2.5 and NOx. scientific way to solve this problem will be attack 2or 3 main causes which constitute 70 to 80% of problem and not work on all the causes at one time . It is clear that we attack Road dust,vehicle co2 particulate and Domestic sources it will take care of 70% of PM2.5. All this requires no high technology or huge resources. Manual sweeping is bound to raise a lot of dust, so do highly speeding cars. Important thing is to ensure that roads are free of dust and this can be done by mechanical road sweeper equipment with vacuum cleaning systems. Also by extra fine swirling water sprays to ensure dust does not rise and also reduces water consumption to less than 10% of the usual truck which has a pipe with holes in it. But these equipment are expensive and any agency has to have adequate funds to purchase and operate these equipment and also face the fact that so many people would lose their jobs. more

Manual sweeping raises dust but it can be controlled with sprinkling. This method was used earlier in our cities. Fore engines were employed for this purpose to sprinkle over the areas going to be swept on that day. Who stoped such good practices of our ancestors more

Implementing the public transport system over the Delhi/NCR similar to as is being managed in Singapore Will reduce the no. Of vehicles on road and certainly remove/control one of major cause of pollution more
