States begin action on LocalCircles ask on app taxis

Many of you enthusiastically participated in the LocalCircles survey late last year on app taxis like Uber, Ola, etc. to share issues faced and areas where action from Government and these companies can help improve services.

One of the top issues raised by the circle was the frequent cancellation by drivers and the need for a penalty in case the driver or the app cancels the ride, just like they levy when a consumer cancels a ride.
We are pleased to share that yesterday Madhya Pradesh has announced that a fine of INR 1000 would be levied if a driver cancels a ride. The Central Govt as part of Motor Vehicle Bill will also be making guidelines. You may share the survey link given below with your Chief Minister on social media if you would like your state to implement the same.

Yes, the Central Govt. should take up this serious matter and should make uniform law applicable in all States nd UTs. more
Unless they make good profit we can not expect quality service
The app companies need to
1. get educated and verified drivers ( call them travelling companion to suit that) with appropriate salaries or commissions. (Like banks have your personal customer care). These drivers should have some deposits at risk for misbehavior and wrong service
2. Get frequent customers enrolled as members with minor deposirs in their account duly compensated by discounts and ensured safe and reliable drivers
3. Occasional non members should not hesitate to pay bit higher fares
If you don’t want to pay higher then risks would remain. Or use alternate modes. more
Once accepted cancellation should not be allowed. Fine is necessary. more
Dynamic fare is a measure concern.
Cancellation after seeing destination.
Cancellation after asking mode of payment. more
DELHI GOVT./HIGH COURT ALSO SHOULD TAKE SUCH ACTIONS. THOUGH OLA/UBER HAS GIVEN SOME RELIEF BUT MANY TIMES BIG PROBLEMS SPECIALLY IN EMERGENCY FOR WHICH NO SOLUTION. more
