Savings from wastage

When late Lal Bahadur Sastriji was our Prime Minister he advocated to fast for at least half day i.e. Monday. He advocated that one day fast will save food grains to the tune of thousands of tons and the country might not face food grain shortage. This was when the population was about 65 Crores.

Today the population is around 120 Crores. If one day food / half day food is saved by way of fasting the country can save more than what was proposed at that time. So let us practice the same day as fasting day i.e. Monday.

Similarly the areas of food wastage are the functions and hotels & restaurants. Let us suggest to the Government steps how to control the wastage of food at these places. more

Fasting is good for health and to grow spiritually. Instead of making a day a fasting it can be of people choice. Even today you can see many people fast in India for God Srinivasa, Raghavendra swamy, Sai baba etc more
I have heard this from my father about Shastriji's appeal to the public. Also, I have heard that in few countries, if people waste food in restaurants, they are fined. What they say makes a lot of sense "You pay for the food, but, that does not give any right to waste a natural resource, if otherwise could be used by some one who is in need of it" more
Good suggestion.Preparing suggestions how to control of watage of vegetables and fruits to Govt soon. It is estimated around 10% in transportation and around 30% due to bad storage and lack of storage facilities. We will soon give suggestions for control of wastage of food around hotels . G.K.Naidu, Hyderabad more
Varaprasad ji You have shared a very noble idea of reducing food wastage. In addition to that i would like to suggest rather than depending wholly on Govt to take action we should also start our role in the matter. We , among our family members, should take the responsibility to learn not to waste food in any kind or at any place. Be it home, Be it at any other outing. If we can practice it by ourselves, then it makes sense to help other practice the same. Gradually it is bound to spread. more
