Rain water & Drainage works and the corruption
After the Bombay Fled Disaster BMC has done a drainage work like European countries without applying mind or studying the local situation.
They made concrete tunnels with tiny holes in 25-30 feet apart . On top of that they put expensive Inter lock bricks as a foot path. Now they are redoing the whole process after demolishing the old drains and removing the muck and mud in the drains. The only difference now, is that the drain holes are bigger. It is again a waste of money and a scam.
1. We need a proper drainage to remove the dirt periodically from any part of water block.
2. Drains should be covered with proper precast concrete slabs of proper weight, so that it will be easy to handle when needed.
3. Instead of expensive interlock bricks, the slabs can be made with colour coating or designs.
4. Our roads and surroundings are muddy and dusty and in due course it fill the drains. Especially in rainy season.
5. The holes provided have only 30% use, because no human can reach the mud in the middle of man holes.
6. I have also noticed that the concrete work (ready-Mix ) done is wrong. The iron frame work is kept close to wooden plank and the concrete layer is spread over it. The iron is not covered fully with concrete and half of it is exposed to air and water below and it will get rusty and break within 1-2 years. To avoid public view they do this at night.
I feel it is purely a money making process for the contractors and the BMC staff. more

There are two school of Thoughts-One the specifications are prepared and issued to the contractor whose selection criteria is not known and one copy is kept along with the tender documents just to prove that adequate precaution is taken while sanctioning the order.The interim inspection is not done from time to time and the contractor manages the work with the Officer who blindly signs his work completion report for payment. more

actually all these work has specification which take some time and as specification contractor were not aware of it or he is not literate about technical specification and from governing body nobody bothers about redoing or inferior work more

The fundamental point in the whole issue is BMC is granting very high FSI (may be as per rules) but tower culture in Mumbai will be able to accommodate more people with 65 years infrastructure and resources. One side political leaders shout of overloading Mumbai than its capacity and on the other hand same will grant higher FSI to accommodate more people. If you want to decongest Mumbai then FSI should have limit and not more than 10 story building should be allowed. Most of the problems will be sorted out by limiting population. It is utmost important to develop many small towns so that people will be tempted to shift there. more

Unfortunately in our country all the political parties believe that Road Re-paring ,Footh path repairing or Drainage work are all like a grazing land for them anion.d that is why we have to face this situation. more
