Dr. Bates says that all our vision problems are caused because of the wrong philosophy fed to us from cradle that in order to do anything well we need to make an effort. Seeing is an effortless activity and the more we try to see, worse we will see. When due to some mental strain one does not see well, he tries to make an effort to see. It increases stress further and causes him poor vision. In order to have perfect vision, all the muscles of our eyes, face and all the body should be perfectly relaxed. Because of our long wrong habits, we need to constantly check if we are unconsciously putting any control on any of our face or eye muscles. We need to release all of our control from any of the muscles completely. Shifting and swinging technique which helped me a lot and improved my vision very fast is about these motions which are naturally made by a normal eye in order to see clearly. Our eye works like a camera with the difference that in a camera, light sensitivity is equal in all parts of the light sensitive plate, but in human retina it is different in all parts and only in a very small part at the centre of the retina, vision is most acute. In fact, a normal eye sees only a very small part of a letter or a thing sharp at a time and sees other parts blur. In order to see the whole letter or thing clearly, a normal eye moves very fast and makes many thousand shifts in a second to see a letter well. When the eye shifts so fast, it is perfectly at rest and the mind is also perfectly relaxed. However, in an eye with imperfect vision this shifting becomes slow and irregular. Moreover, when it is not able to see a thing well, it tries to stay at one place for a longer period. This causes strain. When we shift our focus consciously, which is done in a normal eye unconsciously, the strain is relieved and our vision improves miraculously fast. I have uploaded the book of Dr. Bates here only. Whoever wants to take the benefit of it can download it. Can you tell me where you stay? I want to discuss it with you in order to propagate his methods for the welfare of public. He was harassed a lot in his life time as his methods were against the interests of those in authority. Still his methods are kept obscure, because they are against the commercial interest of the optical industry. I am sure you would love the book when you read it. more
Ms. Abha Mittal Ji, I am interested in knowing the details, as I had said earlier that I had a book on eye exercises by Dr.Bates which helped me a lot, but that book was lost. I am waiting for your detailed post about this. more
