Power tarrif in Delhi

1) In Aug. 2011, Cong Govt in Delhi hiked power tariff by 22%.

2) In Feb.2012, Govt again raised power tariff by 6%.

3) In July 2012, again power tariff was hiked by steep 26% for domestic consumers.

4) Prior to 2011 also power tariff was being regularly hiked almost every year. This was the forth hike during last 1 year at that time. When asked, DERC Chief said that due to Discoms deficit of about 6000Cr, they had no option but to increase power tariff. CM, Mrs Shiela Dixit washed off her hands by saying that DERC was an independent entity to decide power tariff.

Since AAP Govt has taken over, there has been no power hike for the last two years and most likely in 3rd year also no change is expected. This will have perpetual favorable impacty to all category of users. more

STILL THE TRANSMISSION LOSSES - OTHER NAME FOR THE POWER THEFT IS RAMANT. THE DISCOMS PASS ON THE LOSSES TO THE CONSUMERS. IN DELHI DELHI GOVT IS 50% PARTNER WITH THE DISCOMS. EARLY NECESSARY ACTION SHOULD BE TAKEN AGAINST THE POWER THIEVES, STEELING POWER FOR LOCAL DISTRIBUTIONS SYSTEMS FOR JUGGI CLUSTERS, WEEKLY BAZARS, STREET BAZARS, PAVEMENT SHOPS, AND ILLEGAL INDUSTRIES ETC. WITH THIS REFORM POWER RATES WILL STILL FALL. more
Unfortunately, fair pricing/costing is not a preferred criteria in our country owing to the fact that Consumer has no importance other than paying under compulsion. Based on my forty (40) years of experience that too in power sector none of the consumer should pay more than Rs.4 per unit allowing fifty (50) percent cost towards transmission and distribution over the average cost of generation in the country. All reforms in the sector have gone to dust bin even the performance of Regulatory Commissions. Only Shani can help this country if at all considered necessary. more
I do agree with Mr. Agarwal. I do give credit to Mr. Kejriwal, at least I do not have any problem with electricity and water. I personally not like to separate BJP / APP, how so ever gives it is okay with me. I must get it. Their is no issue BJP - produced hence we got it. Or roads Kejriwal is not maintaining - as BJP is not producing . more
Credit for increase in power (electricity) goes to Puyush Goel...of Central Govt. Delhi government has done nothing except paying tax payers money as subsidy to tax and electricity chors Its own piwer generation is costly and low more
Price hikes have gone out of control in everything. Where is the Govt's claim of 4% inflation, it seems completely displaced from reality. more
