Points to Ponder by the Media

Aap's intolerance to Media & its warnings to them are today a subject of heated debate & condemnation by most guests & resource persons on several TV Channels. But the critics of AAP forget that when one makes a statement in a hyperbole- that is poetic way of exaggeration- the purpose is to drive home a point strongly. The point is a common knowledge to all- that corrupt practices have penetrated all categories of media. The practice of seeking a price- be it in cash, kind or a favour- in exchange for positive coverage is undeniably gaining grounds . All may not have fallen a pray to the seductive charm of this lustful game of give & take but it is there- glaring us all stark in the eyes.

Not only that a very high level of integrity is demanded from each media personnel, but also a very high level of impersonal & investigative approach to the issues/ subject in hand. There is a lot of plagiarism, imitation, copy paste, repetitions happening in all channels, news papers etc. Opinions of one merge/ overlap those of others. Result - The gullible public takes the emerging information as true. Alas there is no way left to public but to believe the half truth or even a lie passing of as truth!!

When Kejriwal makes a sweeping statement media should stand alert & see within their systems. For no agency - not even A govt - needs to be as honest to public as media. For innocent readers become the victims of mis information, purchased news ,hurriedly made analysis etc . It is a crime against humanity- to change mindsets - with vested intentions or inefficiency.

So let the media understand this fully well - the onus of being dishonest or partial is corruption of a worst kind. Beware of this moral lapse & mend ways.

Thanks, Sharmaji. more
Excellent suggestion, Ajit ji. I hope the powers that be in AAP will ponder over this. more
Dr Bijendra, I am in full agreement with you that a section of the media is blatantly partisan and against AAP. We must fight them, expose them, and by mounting public pressure, compel the errant section of the media to self correct. We can also begin a campaign ( at a later date ) to collect funds to set up a media house which will, among other things, expose the black sheep within the media fraternity. I can assure you such a media house, which will not spare AAP either, will generate tremendous TRP. But I remain apprehensive of external media regulation, and for the sake of a larger good am prepared to endure losses to our party. Trust the people, they will stand by us, because they know who is for them and who are puppets of big business houses. more
