PARKING MENACE
Many people would have noticed that of late Roads in Noida are fast becoming parking lots leaving very little room for the Roads to be used for what they were constructed for, commuting. This problem is more noticeable in areas where there are offices and so called Institutional areas which are adjoining residential localities. I have been told that NOida Authority in its City plan has provisioned for One lane of many roads as designated "Parking" which is Contracted Out to various Contractors. The ground situation is the entire road is treated a Parking except for "One Lane" which is available for driving through. The authority does not take any action despite multiple complaints and the Parking Contactors Continue to get away with this encroachment. In some locations the One Lane is also compromised due to encroachment by Hawkers/Share Autos etc leading to a lot of vehicles being driven on the wrong side.
Lot of multi storied buildings are being constructed which once occupied will create more parking nuisance as mot of the are commercial office complexes who most o the time will oversell the space leaving whatever mandatory parking facilities created by them in the buildings to be inadequate. If NOIDA authority is giving permissions for such buildings to come up then they should also ensure and enforce Parking Hygiene to avoid spill overs on to the roads and also have an action plan for getting rid of rampant encroachment by Parking Contractors. more

1. Noida was a planned city till it fell prey to A) Corruption B) Over population Solutions 1. One cannot ask people to stop parking. But improve the public transport systems. 2. One can ask people to park properly instead of irregularly - this is where the role of parking attendants come into play. 3. Have multi level parking wherever possible. 4. Have a country level discussion on the solutions to curtailing the population growth through family planning mechanisms,..etc. more

Sector-62 is a menace. Specially B Block. You cannot even think of walking on the road as there is no space. Authorities have turned a blind eye to the problems. more

Fully agree with you. The traffic is always in a mess in and around B Block market and also TOT Mall in C Block more

There is no rules or guidelines for Parking being followed in Greater Noida or for that matter in the entire country. In a large number of countries no car can be registered unless the owner has a verified and legal parking space. Unless this rule is followed not only for new vehicles but for all existing vehicleas. Parking space, either free or paid should be earmarked with proper signage. Signage for ‘No Parking’ , ‘one way’, “No Entry”, etc may be put up in all markets, office areas, residential areas. more

All these rules would serve no purpose at all, since we Indians do not believe in doing things as per rules or as per law. The only way which will help in the longer term is to make it compulsory for all buildings to have their own parking lots (either Basements or Multi-Storied) which should have enough parking space for 5X-10X the number of offices or establishments in the buildings. Even for Residential buildings, the parking space should be available in similar manner for 2X the number of apartments in the building, even if it is a bungalow or independent house with 2-3 stories, the same rule must be followed. Occupancy Certificate should net be given unless this is complied with. Further, areas like Atta Market, and similar others, should get knocked down and new commercial buildings should be constructed of 2-3-4 stories as convenient, with enough basement and surface parking for 8X-12X the number of shops or establishments which are finally constructed. more

Along with the designted parking area, parking mafias get the adjoining areas/road also as parking site. more
