Pamphlets by BJP against Mohalla Sabha.

Are the RWAs and RWCs not allowed to participate in mohalla sabhas? If not, mohalla sabhas were not intended to dismantle above associations but to go beyond them to widen the spectrum so as to include common residents also to share their problems and priorities for fund spending.

In view of the above, AAP must take counter measure to neutralize the the negative effects of pamphlets being distributed by BJP in all households, claiming "the AAP initiative is designed to dismantle Resident Welfare Associations, disenfranchise them and prepare a private army of AA-aligned cadre". "AAP is holding meetings where suggestions are being sought and supplied by their own supporters, thus creating a monopoly of its own," said Sanjay Kaul, the chief spokesperson of the state BJP.

AAP must remember that BJP will take media support also to spread its counter offensive message against mohalla sabha. This can be countered only when senior officials of some RWAs deny BJP's claim openly. If required, press conferance may be held in this regard to speak out the truth. more

Ashokji, RWA is a proven concept. However, there are good effective RWAs and badly managed RWAs. It is important that residents elect the right kind of people to represent them. My experience has been extremely positive one. For mismanaged RWAs, the solution would be to improve the same rather than adding to the propaganda of belittling a great initiative like Mohalla Sabhas. After a long time we have got a mechanism to reduce corruption and frittering away of limited resources meant for development. We should all join hands to strengthen the mechanism by pointing out areas of improvement rather than criticising nd killing a good mechanism. more
