More than the 'stray dog' menace, in our colony we are facing 'pet dog' menace. Owners bring their dogs for walk and make them defecate in front of others' houses. Can some activists help in this regard. more

stray animal management is a critical issue, especially with the commencement of the 'hot' season, and the imminent arrival of the monsoons. communities must act collectively and cohesively in addressing this issue. in the case of stray dogs, a simple and not too expensive approach would be to collect and neuter the strays, so they do not proliferate. we can approach the appropriate authorities, such as the local governing body, to set up local or mobile veterinary units that can perform these operations free of cost, as a civic necessity. this should obviate stray animal population proliferation in a humane manner with long term benefits. more
pet owners are not necessarily animal lovers or activists. a lot of them 'own' (as if you could own another life!) 'pets', and in fact, expensive exotic breeds simply because to them, it's chic to do so, like ownin a lamborghini or maserati - names they can neither spell nor pronounce, cars they can neither drive properly nor maintain well! they suffer not from a lack of education (which is anyways often the case) as from a deficit of culture; a basic lack of civic sense and community ownership that more often than not extends to bad public behavior, rash drivin and other indulgences derived from a poor upbringin. a lot of these are not from an 'educatable' background - they are know-it-alls and have-it-alls who are full of the necessary political, monetary and negative clout that lets them live in this city, in the first place. you can tell them about ethics - like bringin a horse to the water. makin them understand is a different ball game, altogether. more
