Knee replacement
My wife aged 66 almost 20 years back had a knee problem and one of the leading orthopaedic surgeons of delhi had fixed the ligaments. She now has again for the past 5 years having problem, and needs knee replacement. My query --
1. Which doctor or hospital is good for this.
2. Is it safe and how long does the effect last
I shall appreciate if someone who has undergone responds to this.

This message is incomplete. But the first question that springs is is she doing justice to the leg muscles with proper exercise? Is she progressively reducing body weight as age advance? more

Thanks Mr. Kewal Dua for this important information. A weight reduction for your wife will be further helpful. The idle weight/Body mass index (weight in Kg divided by height in meters square) is below 25. Better if she can bring down to 30. It will automatically reduce weight on her knees. Help of "Desi Jadi Booti Farm in Dehra Dun" can also be taken in this respect. It is a fact that senior doctors in reputed hospitals are taken and paid based on amount of business rather incremental business to the hospitals and not for quick and economical relief of patients. more

kewal dua jee is right-even if some one reaches-first question who is yr family dr or who sent you to their place-then do you hv medical insurance...then ask about yr earnings etc and make you scape goat-ba ka ra....!!!any one goes to small or medium or such hospital no one is there to trewat or serve you as human not even as patient but as ba ka ra... more

When ever you go to any big hospital who have knee replacement facility will always recommend you for knee replacement because he is judging you as there customer not a patient. Every doctor says that we dont guaranty even after replacement she will be able to walk. Every doctor says new cost of knees in laCKS IN ADDITION TO operation cost. How will you judge that which knee is best and the price he is charging is correct. My wife is also suffering from the same problem and her age is 64 yrs and weight 105 Kgs.
