1) Chalan for people smoking sitting inside cars, in public places. similarly for people throwing filth on roads, below trees. In Govt./private colonies...pl keep a warning....such acts to be treated as bad behaviour calling for action. 2) Errant drivers..who deviate driving rules and block traffic to be chalanned 2-3 times more to help control pollution and improve civic sense. 3) In Delhi parks, keep some areas for planting saplings. Parks may have herbs like tulsi, lemon grass, aloevera for sale at cheaper rates. 4) Persons free of diabetes/life style diseases may be given a spl. recognition card or a star rating in Aadhar card as an incentive to encourage disease free healthy lifestyle. 5) Innovate a technology...a chip in every persons mobile number...which can catch up high velocity of violent behaviour of family members to send an auto alert to nearest police station...No action is to be taken. But this information can be used by crime cell to map the genome of crime pattern/domestic violence in capital. 6) Display the names of citizens/women trained in self defence/social activists in colonies to ward off evil elements ... and to encourage social support for needy. 7) For all women working as Maids/Cooks, etc. please give a valid I.D. to avoid exploitation. Treat them as unorganised casuals..entitled for health insurance. Encourage such women for voluntary disclosure of spouse who are unemployed, drugging, exploiting by domestic violence. 8) Amend Divorce Laws ...such that in case of domestic violence...after two years if the case is unresolved, allow for divorce, as a mutual case based on time limit. 9) Ask the working Govt/private persons to give an undertaking every year to the effect that there is no domestic violence. If detected, liable for termination of service. ( Get it countersigned by all their family members....for building a better violence free society.) more
Singapore smoker fined $15,000 for throwing butts out of window.. Where is our Swatchh Bharat taking us ??????? Singapore has fined a smoker S$19,800 ($15,000) for throwing cigarette butts out of his flat window, the National Environment Agency said, the highest ever such fine. The man was fined S$600 per cigarette for the first 33 offences, and ordered to do community service for the 34th, all committed within four days, the agency said. The 38-year-old smoker, who was caught on surveillance camera, will have to clean a public area for five hours wearing a bright vest bearing the words "Corrective Work Order". Singapore, famous for its cleanliness, cracks down hard on even minor crimes like littering and vandalism, which is punishable by caning, and bans the import of chewing gum, in part to keep its public areas spotless. The agency said on its website it deployed surveillance cameras at nearly 600 locations and took 206 enforcement actions against offenders for high-rise littering in 2014. It did not say which floor the smoker lived on. Vidya Sagar Arora more

Air Pollution: 1) Too Many Vehicles on the roads 2) Poor Traffic Management leading to jams , thus leading to lot of pollution 3) Burning of Plastics / Waste material 4) Inter-state Commercial Vehicles using delhi as a transit point 5) Open Drains emitting harmful gases 6) Lack of Proper Toilets for jhuggi dwellers 7) Un-regulated waste disposal into the river , drains , along railway tracks 8) Lack of care for newly planted saplings (Noida is much better at planting & maintaining green patches) 9) Lack of strict implemetation of Pollution Control guideines for Vehicles (PUC certificate an be easily obtained even when vehicle is not perfectly fit) 10) Commercial Vehicle Fitness process is also not strictly implemented. Fitness certificates can be obtained even when vehicles are not perfectly fit for the road. 11) Open Garbage Dumps causing fouls smell & bad air quality 12) Lack of awareness among the masses towards the importance & need to maintain a clean & pollution free environment. 13) Public transport system is not good enough so people prefer using their own vehicles. (Metro Feeder services are rather poor. Last mile connectivity is not provided). 14) Adultration of petrol / diesel also leads to higher pollution levels 15) Un-controlled / un-authorized construction leading to cramping of spaces. Environment is sans proper sunlight / air circulation 16) Use of Pressure Horns / modified mufflers cause sound pollution thus vitiating the environment more
