Improve Public Transport and Infrastructure
.... Improve Public Transport and Infrastructure; cars will automatically reduce. There are many people who drive their own cars to offices and workplaces under compulsion. If better public transport is available, they would prefer to use it.
.... Metro is a good facility, but it is completely stalled at night. Why ? Reduce the frequency, but let it operate. Or at least make it operational till 1:00 pm and start at 4:30 am.
.... Take the example of Mumbai. There are much much less number of cars plying in Mumbai. Is it that people in Mumbai cannot afford cars ? No. They have cars, but do not use it for commuting daily. Local Trains, BEST buses, Cabs and Autos are much handy to use. Alas ! This is just not there in Delhi. DTC is hopeless. Metro is overcrowded .. don't know why frequency cannot be increased during peak hours and provide 8 coaches ?
.... This odd-even plan of Delhi Government with the vision to reduce the numbers of cars by half, cannot be successful. There is a good number of people who have multiple number of cars and not all of them are used on the same day. One can use his car as per odd-even number days.
.... Does the government plan to limit the numbers of cars being registered in Delhi ? If not, you will see the car sales increasing as those who can afford, will opt for an additional car.
.... Is it that the pollution created by a diesel cab, a petrol car and a CNG car is same? To me, it is not. Then why use the same stick for all types of cars ?
.... Is this decision going to be implemented on thousands of diesel cabs which are registered outside Delhi but ply in Delhi for several MNCs and Call Centres ? If not, pollution is not going to drastically reduce. more

some very valid inputs by Mr Susheel Gupta. However, our politicians only believe in knee jerk reactions and decisions. asking public for any inputs is only lip service, they do things the way they want to do. the only suffer is the public. No one is bothered. more

Banning of cars is not at all a solution. it will work only if the public transport system is fully dependable,but in Delhi the situation is pathetic. The metros are good alternative, but at peak hours many of us cannot enter it because of the huge crowd especially at the inter mediate stations. The DTC is yet to be augmented fully to cope with the situation. As such, the first priority should be for betterment of the public transport system. increase the number of metro coaches, frequency and connectivity. Deploy more buses. Cars can be completely banned at places like Chandni Chowk, Ajmal Khan Road, Connaught Place inside. Electric powered buses can ply to Railway Station from Connaught Place, through Chandni chowk, Old Delhi Station. make more fly overs as in MUmbai which can reduce the traffic congestion. The main problem of pollution is due to slow moving vehicles , once the ring flyover is over, most of the vehicles which are passing through Delhi will use it decongesting the city roads more
