I suggest short educative animated films be aired on channels to show impact of each un hygienic or environment unfriendly acts from our day to day life so that we as public take conscious effort to curb them. eg is not carrying shopping bags when going shopping for grocery or vegetables. not carrying empty tiffin to office if food has to be fetched from a dhaba near office. not carrying drinkable water in your car or bag when leaving for office or back and buying plastic bottles which end up as litter.. the list can go on.. more
Delhi hardly has any public toilets in parks which cause great inconvenience to morning walkers, ..especially the elderly who use it most frequently. It needs immediate attention. There are no dustbins in most market places, even in posh colonies, so people throw paper wrappings, etc on the ground, adding to the filth and unhygienic conditions. more
Here are a few observations nonetheless: 1) Daily sweeping by sweepers on the road and colony streets is an eyewash, it only ends up raising dust in the air and the collection from sweeping is left to disperse again. 2) The garbage disposal centres in colonies are not managed at all, and garbage lies spread all around blocking the road and also creating a stink. 3) Citizens freely relieve their pets on colony roads and in parks. 4) A low hanging fruit is taking action on ubiquitous spitting. 5) Only lip service is paid to segregation of bio-degradable and non-degradable waste. 6) Alternative & environment friendly disposal of city's garbage to tackle problem of space constraint in the limited no. of dumps we have in the city. more
Mr.Sehrawat's point is valid. It seems gathering views from members has become an excuse for non-performance by authorities. They will get much better response from members if they first show some quick results to some of the obvious problems. more
Just to add one more point...there are no guidelines for street vendors for keeping dustbins and there are no guidelines for people putting up food stalls for religious gatherings for cleanliness Also, weekday markets should be movEd to one ground instead of streets more
