GOVERNMENT POLICY ON WELL MAINTAINED 15 YEARS OLD CAR ?

CAN ANY ONE GUIDE AS TO WHAT WOULD BE THE FATE OF THOSE CAR WHO ARE ON THE VERGE OF COMPLETING 15 YEARS?

I AM TOLD THAT SOME STATES HAVE STARTED RENEWING SUCH VEHICLES ?

I, BEING A SENIOR CITIZEN, CAN NOT AFFORD TO BUY THE NEW ONE BUT I NEED ONE FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE. more

@Ram Yadav ji, new concessional car to senior citizen: Concession or subsidy means another way of corruption. Car Companies will enjoy their cost anyway. @Umesh Kumar ji, the latest most economical car will be treated in same manner on age basis. Why is the need of a new car? Selling my 10 year old petrol version car only 28000km on a throw away price and buying a new one is multiple times costlier. I keep it well maintained for the use of my family in any need. Pollution check certificates are issued to vehicles as a formality, not actual check. As very clearly mentioned by others, Only age basis and same treatment for commercial and private vehicles is nonsense. more

Now a days , the rarest commodity in India is "Common Sense" and strangely it alludes even the big judges.A commercial vehicle runs for 16 hrs a day for 15 years and needs to be out of road that is comprehensible but a private vehicle that runs for 20 to 30 mins a day also are not being renewed,under what logic ?Does a private vehicle that runs for 30 mins/day for 15 years causes the same level of pollution as that of a Commercial vehicle that runs for 16hrs or 960mins/day for 15 years?We can only pray to instill some common sense for the sake of better judgement to our NGT Judges who can change for a better and newer car at the tax payers cost every 2 to 3 years. more

Dear Mr. Satyarth Prakash, I agree with your views. It is totally illogical to discard the vehicles on the age criteria. A 15 years old car would have run more that 2 lakh kms and another same age vehicle would have run not more that 30,000 kms and both vehicles will have different conditions. No body even talks about the idling of the vehicles at various traffic jams. So easy route is to enact some illogical enactment. more

restricting old cars in the name of pollution control! on the other hand, no restriction on the number of new vehicles being added every day. What an idea Sir ji! It is something totally in favor of Car companies. Without declaring on what parameters the old cars are being dumped, without making the car companies to share the burden of replacing the old car, it is solely a loss to the owner of the car. This is simply non-democratic and illogical. There must be a strong message from public who has the right to know they can reduce the 15 years to 10 and we all will be made fools. Where are we heading? more

I believe many countries give considerable amount of subsidy in lieu of return of old cars so as the persons can purchase new car, and pollution is curbed. Our Government should also do it. more
