Getting the right talent for leadership role

I am a new entrant to the start up world and have realized the challenge in getting like minded profiles for senior leadership roles. I thought people will be interested in the concept of "startup within a startup" model so that they can fulfil their dream of becoming an entrepreneur without the additional headache of managing funding, infra etc by going for a lower than market salary but higher incentives like share of revenue and ESOP. However we see more and more people expecting market based salary than understand the model in detail. Also people look at immediate short term goals than think like an entrepreneur and expect gains in the long term. The VC funded startups have in fact spoilt the market, who pay more than IT companies to attract talent. The same companies have laid off their staff after realizing their follY...we have read many such stories recently. In short I see few people really wanting to become entrepreneurs with a long term vision but expecting quick returns...how long will this continue? more

Yes,you are right Arvind for any startup in a situation such as yours ideally will require someone who is too passionate and has money to support his/herself until startup has reached to the point where it can afford people on higher salary scale. People with "enough on their plate" will be required for such startups. Sell them your dream and then you can find some takers. What kind of people exactly you are looking for?
