Fraud by marketing comanies.
I wanted to place an on line order for some Patanjali products. I chanced to come across Groffers who happened to sell Patanjali products. When I opened the site, the first thing that struck me was "20% Cashback on first order. Coupon: GROFERS20" I got exited and selected some items worth Rs.1690/- and proceeded to pay after applying the coupon GROFERS20. As I applied the coupon Grofers20, the profoma invoice showed an amount of Rs 126/- with a noting : "₹126 cashback will be credited as Grofers Cash within 48-72 hrs of delivery"
The Cash back on my first order should work out to Rs 338/-as per the "20% Cashback on first order." I was surprised and wrote to the company for clarification. I did get the clarification from the company as follows:

Was the company right in declaring ""20% Cashback on first order." without even mentioning "Terms and conditions apply" clause which in itself is a fraud on the buyers. And when so many conditions were in place why did they declare 20% cash back on first order? Is this not a fraud.?

These companies frame their buyers in a complex and complicated language which when read straight, dupe the buyers. The only remedy for all such frauds is that each and every buyer has to be extremely cautious before committing themselves to these marketing companies. more

Harpal ji thanks for you reply and concern expressed. I will 100% endorse your argument that I should not have deposited with Amazon. Very true. You are also true when you say T&C are accepted by al before proceeding further. Nobody can deny that. I am not legal erudite nor legs professional, however sir pls bear in mind that hon'ble SCI has asserted that it is not possible for an ordinary person to read and understand technicalities of T&C. I would challenge the legal professionals who have drafted these to come and openly declare and assert all the VOLUMINOUS T&C!! hence I am confident that that excuse will not hold water, if matters go to that stage. Also please bear in mind sir, that these T&C are so lengthy and voluminous that no system will ever hold logged in item that long. Hence all shopping put in cart would be deleted if not confirmed within specified time frame. Hence again on that ground that will not hold water. For ₹500 there is no legal forum that can be approached. Even if available the court fees would be more than claim amount. Even if one is willing to bear that for being law abiding citizen, imagine the time and running around to be done. Added to that, the courts would prima facie dismiss matters in view of pecuniary considerations, as that would be waste of court's VALUABLE TIME, as no matter of law is involved and it I this lacunae that the professional advocates play around. Another flip side! Assuming all is in my favour I.e: law, facts, cist bearing and time, there is provision after 3-4 possible years of running around the hon'ble would send the matter to conciliation, which another 2years to be the least!!!
