Foreign particle in the eye

Had a terrifying incident last evening. My son opened colgate toothpaste to brush his teeth and the paste particles went onto his eyes. The eyes were literlaly burning for 15 minutes. After a good bit of washing he was still burning so I literally took out the particles using my fingers which also caused more burning sensation.

Parents - please be careful and experts - what must one do in such situations. Is there a particular liquid ones must wash eyes with?? more

wash eyes with clean cold water. more
Paste contains calcium carbonate i e white wash. It can make anybody blind if spillage is in concentrated form. Fortunately paste has minimal concentration. Washing eyes with clean water is the only first aid available. Immediately rush to your eye surgeon. He can guide you better.
