Food for thought. Why Kejriwal Winning Delhi Is Good For India?

1. Let us vote for a leader who we know will be accountable to us and not to any high command.

2. We need to create alternatives to Congress. The left is dead and gone. We need to create a strong opposition. We need checks and balances. Authoritarian rule in a multicultural country like India will create social conflicts that will harm our economy too.

3. AAP has changed the discourse from caste-and religion-based politics to transparency and accountability. We must persist with this directional change.

4. Every politician today from the big national parties have been tried over the last 65 years. There is a severe scarcity of honest leadership. Time to vote for honest people in politics. Governance can be learnt but honesty is a part of our DNA.

5. AAP has also pushed the existing national parties to include clean, fresh faces and made corruption amongst politicians a central issue. It is important to keep that pressure on national parties. A win of AAP will force them to junk the rotten and embrace fresh blood.

6. There is a strong sense of complacency at the centre.

7. There seems to be too much importance to one person. We need multitude of leaders and multiple voices. The congress was not good in governance and neither good as an opposition. It is time we create a voice that speaks up and is heard. AAP and Kejriwal can be that voice.

Many of you may have issues with some of the arguments put forward. But think. What will it cost India if BJP loses and how will it benefit India if BJP wins. Do the cost-benefit analysis, and you will find an answer. more

Anilji, thanks for appreciating my post. Yes political plurality is healthy and its absence weakness. Hence AAP needs support, as also emphasized by the other above post too. more
UPA crossed its limits in corruption because a very strong opposition party BJP betrayed the nation. The role of opposition was only to grab its share of profits. Congress is already destroyed. With all bad politics BJP will face the same fate. A government with full majority fails to do any good. Nation will not accept any excuse from BJP as well. AK has proved to be an ultimate choice for the nation. more
There was a time when in India Congress was ruling the country without any viable and effective opposition , now the scenario has turned around and Congress has no guts nor will to withstand the sever onslaught by the incumbent BJP. For a successful democracy in the country one constructive opposition must survive and AAP must strive to replace Congress across the country to serve the purpose and in turn replace even BJP in longer perspective as an viable democratic ruler of the country. more
It is not good for Delhi if Mr. Arvind Kejriwal is given an opportunity to win the Delhi Election. more
Dear Mr Suni, I subscribe to your views and in order further strengthen the rights of public and accountability of political parties, I have have requested Mr Arvind Kejriwal to immediately work on the following suggestions in this assembly elections. You may go through these suggestions and share with as many friends and public as you know to spread this message: Dear Sir, In the light of present assembly election I would like to make following suggestions: 1. Election in Delhi has been declared just before budget session of the Parliament so that electorate is not affected by budget proposals. People in general remain unaware of new taxes being mooted by the Finance Ministry. There should be one month’s public voting on imposition of new taxes and proposals or increase in any existing taxes and Government needs to consider this voting result. Voting can be got done through media and forwarded to Government. 2. BJP, Congress and AAP need to declare their manifesto and five year plan of development and relief to all people irrespective of rich, middle, low or BPL category of people. 3. Every party should declare its election manifesto showing plans and revenue requirement for the plans alongwith source of meeting the expenditure. 4. All parties should declare their five year financial/budget plan as to how they would run Delhi Government and what new taxes or increase in taxes would be made. 5. Price of milk, electricity, water and transport must not be increased in excess of the inflation rate. 6. Delhi needs more dispensaries and hospitals in government sector. Existing dispensaries should be 100% service delivery centres with upgraded facility and responsible staff. 7. Central Universities in Delhi should have 90% quota for Delhites. Campus placement to provide initial one year job (3 months training plus 9 months regular service) to all pass outs should be made mandatory for which all industries, government offices, police, private establishments including NGOs should provide initial one year job to all pass outs of the college. Further continuance in service will be according to requirement and performance of the candidate. Similarly ITI pass outs and vocational trained students should also get initial one year job. This scheme is to equip the new pass outs with one year experience so that they are not exploited by recruiters. 8. When Income Tax is being charged from superannuated employees, then they should be given job opportunities beyond existing age limit of 65 years. Employees superannuated form government/private jobs should get a preferential quota in appointments on all positions particularly on deputation posts when vacancies are advertised by the government. 9. When a superannuated employee gets re-employment and pays income tax and later on becomes unemployed then he should be paid subsistence allowance from Income Tax Department for five years at the rate of 50% of yearly tax last paid by him, irrespective of pension received by him or the Income Tax should not be charged from the superannuated employees. 10. Government rules including employment and service conditions should made be applicable to NGOs receiving government grants. 11. The manifesto of a political party should be made a legal contract document upon which right to sue should be given to the public. Hence year wise manifesto should be made compulsory to create accountability and responsibility. Right to sue would be exercised by the public from the date a plan is promised to be matured. 12. Life time pension to MPs and MLAs should be reviewed as it is creating heavy burden on the public in shape of taxes and removal of subsidy. It should be realized that not only BPL but other people also need subsidy who have financial and family obligations. 13. Government should pay bank interest on the subsidy amount of gas cylinders being charged from the public till the time it is credited to consumer’s accounts on day based calculation. 14. DDA should plan and sell the houses at NO PROFIT NO LOSS basis as the duty of the Government is to serve public and not earn profit. There should be no auction of land by DDA as it defeats the purpose of welfare state. 15. Bank loans should be charged at an interest rate equal to Fixed Deposit rate of the same period. Banks should not earn profit on loans as it indirectly becomes a cost to the public. Banks have been established to serve public and nation, not earn profit. Huge amount of loan outstanding against companies including housing sector must be recovered immediately. 16. There should be only one toll payment for using the Highway in one state. Public should not be made to pay multiple tolls in the same state. The toll amount must not be more than Rs.30/- per vehicle. Return journey within 48 hours should be free. 17. There should be no VAT on medicines. VAT should be only on luxury medicines. Lipsticks, nail polish, ladies and babies sanitary items and babies food items should be completely tax free. 18. There should be no service tax on education sector, service given by CAs to companies/firms/owners having turnover less than Rs. One Crore. 19. Railways should add coaches in a train according to demand received through advance reservation system, rather than giving waiting list number or not allowing booking of tickets. Coaches should also be added based on demand of all Tatkal bookings to enable public meet their urgent and emergent obligations. 20. Encroachment made by Police Stations on road by keeping old confiscated vehicles must be removed. Request that above suggestions may please be considered and made part of election manifesto by the political parties. 21. City improvement, particularly roads in streets and industrial areas need to be attended on priority as all these are in bad shape. People of Delhi have to brave such conditions YOY but no improvement. 22. Issues of women's safety need to be attended on priority. Ideologies being aired should be translated into practice. 23. Fee of all public schools need to be reduced so that it may be accessible to low income and poor people of the country. It has become highly difficult to give education to our children as the pubic fee are as high Rs.5000/- to Rs.8000/- per month for one child. Request that above suggestions may please be considered and made part of election manifesto by the political parties. C.M. Lal 09818680671 more
