How about starting a movement to fine and prosecute ALL STATE Municipal officers, Municipal Councillors and MLAs?

For roads and footpaths
fine Rs 5000 per pot hole for endangering life and limbs of citizens for 7 days

Rs 10000 after 7 days.

For illegal construction and sewage cleaning.

10000 per day for one week and for delay to demolish illegal structures.

Thereafter 20000 per day for 2nd week.

*Why stringent punishment to only for citizens and no accountability to public servants who have been aiding and abetting the destruction of this city??!!* more

Something of the sort needs to be done as anarchy of these groups of people has crossed all limits. But who will ring the bell? No politician or political party will come forward as more or less all of them are sailing in the same boat. more
In our country, there is no responsibility or accountability for any M.P., MLA, IAS, IPS, municipalities, etc. That is why these people are behaving like "viceroys" of India! Look at the arrogance of these people when they deal with the common man, not realising that it is the common man ---the tax payer--- who is paying them their salaries. The Constitution should incorporate a long chapters on the responsibilities and accountability of all such officials and they should be liable to be prosecuted for their ineptitude, incompetence and inefficiency by any citizen of India. If this is done, within seconds these lazy, lethargic people will jump to their feet and start doing true "public sewa". The culture of "Haan Ji Hazoor" and always kowtowing to the top political functionaries and making their life super-pleasant must go and all development plans, beautification, road repairs, the supply of water/electricity etc. and the welfare of the citizens/common man must rule supreme. It is most demeaning to see the VIP roads kept spic and span and common road in other sectors kept in a shabby manner with potholes , uncovered drains, dangerously inclined poles , accumulated stinking garbage et al. making the common man's life most miserable. Do you know that in the last Visakha Utsav, the GVMC spent crores and even engaged half-clad (naked?) "Cheer Girls" from abroad to entertain the foreign diginataries, insted of showcasing them the rich amd varied culture of Indian classical dances!! This is what I call the sick mind of our administrators -- a vistage of "British Raj" to always bow to foerigners and try to appease them. No action has been taken for such flagrant abuse of public money. And yet, they say there is no money to cover the open drains and repair the damaged roads. A young girl child got washed away about 2 years ago in Vizag when she fell inside an open drain and her body was found only after a day or two floating in the Bay of Bengal! The GVMC has not learnt a wee bit from this gruseome accident. Many open drains continue to exist. Had it been Saudi, perhaps those responsible would have been given 1000 lashes with their pants down. But in India, life of the common man has no value. How to change this rude culture? Vote for a new government in the 2019 Elections. Let good, honest, and dedicated peple come forward to take up the cahallenge of rebuilding a new and bright India where "WE THE PEOPLE OF INDIA" live with equality, dignity, and harmony, and establish true "Ram Rajya" as envisioned by Mahatma Gandhi. more
Good idea, but is it practicable ?? more
I am glad to hear all the positive responses from responsible citizens of our great Country. However, this matter cannot be taken up by a layman. There will have to be someone from the legal fraternity who can start something and I am sure all will join in and help in whatever way they can. Surely there will be lot of resistance from the Government and the so called Public Servants. This cannot be done in a few days or months and may take a few years, but the generations to come will surely benefit from this. more
We will have to take the Legislators (MLAs) also into confidence to pass such an amendment. Yes but surely we should move this. more
