Encroachment by farmhouses of Gram Sabha land
The rich and the mighty built illegal and sometimes approved farmhouses in Delhi. But most unnoticed by all are the illegal encoachment of GRAM SABHA land in all these influential farmhouse communities. Farmhouses in Rangpuri and Rajaukri villages on National Highway 8 are the most expensive. Most of them on the inner fringes have extended their boundaries into Gram Sabha land along the colony called Western Greens.Some of them have encroached land as much as 10 acres. All these Gram Sabha land were natural waterways once upon a time , but sadly they are part of these palatial farmhouses. They need to be removed by the revenue authorities and restored back for public use.
Same is the case with many farmhouses in Ghitorni, Chatterpur , Sultanpur, and other villages. A simple superimposing of old revenue maps on googlemap will show the extent of these encroachments running into hundreds of acres. more

Encroachment of public land is everywhere in India. Govt only do selective retrieval at times whenever there is a public outcry. Encroachment by rich and the poor should be viewed on the same footing, and no one will be spared. It is pertinent to note that encroachment happens only where there is no effective supervision. It never happens in front of Rashtrapathy Bhavan, or on private property but happens on Railway land, and Govt lands. and such other places which are prone to encroachment due to lack of land security. MHA had a proposal to set up a Public Land Protection Force (PLPF) mooted by then MoS, Home Mr Mullappally Ramachandran for protecting all the public land in the country. This force is supposed to co-ordinate with the Revenue Departments of the State Govts and the local bodies to ensure that no public land is encroached. The idea is preventing the encroachment than clearing it after encroachment. The personnel of the Force will be responsible and accountable , so that they get the punishment if they fail to protect the public land. We should urge the new Govt to reconsider the above proposal and implement that more
