E20 petrol survey of LocalCircles

The LocalCircles survey on E20 petrol has captured plight of old petrol vehicle owner most accurately. Millions of such people are taking about it across X, FB, Insta and Reddit. And Petroleum and Road Minister of India have no defense now.

The reality is mileage of many petrol vehicles (pre 2023) has taken a hit and wear tear expenses are rising.

Government must ensure that E0 and E10 is available. This dictator approach of forcing E20 and soon E30 in every vehicle which was designed for E10 is a crime. Who will bear financial costs of consumer.

If Govt doesn’t change its rule everyone should consider protesting by not buying a new vehicle. Just simple silent protest. more

In fact, I purchased a TVS Scooty Pep Plus in 2007 May and used it till 2017. It was travelling 50 KM per litre..After disposing of it to a needy girl in 2018, I purchased a HONDA ACTIVA. Initially, it gave a good mileage of 50-52 KMPL. Lately, when the government introduced E10, the mileage dropped to 45-48...Even though I got my vehicle serviced, the mileage did not improve; it dropped to 42-44 [2020-21]. When I fought with the Honda Service Centre...then only I came to know that to save the import bill, the government coolly blended with E 10 %. The vehicles are not designed with such blending. Now, despite servicing [It ran only 21190 KM ason to day. The mileage is not improved but has further dropped to 38-41. Some urgent action to be taken by the government. People like me, who retired from PSU in 2008, get a pension of only 908..and pulling on life with only interest on deposits...is very difficult to spend more than Rs. 500/-for petrol more

You are right madam, I am always with you. E0 to E10 is more enough and easy for people. We should not silently not purchasing new vehicles and use public transport more and more where ever it available. more
I am facing issues even after regular servicing. We need to file a PIL and ensure we get non ethanol blended petrol till such time a technology to take care of this for older vehicle say 3 years is not ready (Similar to catalytic convertors). Why suddenly change the plan to an earlier Date. Else totally stop manufacturing or usage of automobiles for private use. EV is not the solution. Manufacturing cost is high. Road side assistance issues are high and traveller's are left high and dry. What happens to old discsrded batteries ? more
My experience is lesser mileage of 3+4 km per litre. On a long term used I fear engine complaints may surface. Needless to mention knocking of of the engine which may lead to engine troubles. more
