DOUBLE VAT
As a Consumer i'm facing problem of Double Taxation e.g When you buy material from Pantaloon under discount ,they mentioned VAT extra , were as discount is on MRP (inclusive of taxes ) ,so how come these retail companies can charges VAT , were as the mentioned price are inclusive of taxes . Please get back , if any body knows. more

Thank you for the clarification. A I mentioned earlier, experts have better information and my knowledge, apparentlt, is outdated. During my days, MRP apart, taxes extra was the mention on all packs. Hence, normally discounts are on MRP and taxes used to be levied on discounted price. For the convenience of the customers, the retailer used to give the final price a customer has to pay and after discount. So, this does not seem to be the practice these days as MRP would include all taxes. Thanks again. more

@VVS and @Vikas, There is no doubt that the MRP is inclusive of everything including VAT and not even a single penny is chargeable extra. This is as per Law. Secondly it does not depend upon company to company. All the companies are adhered to follow the same rule i.e MRP inclusive of VAT/Taxes. @Vikas, I would like to have details of the case and if you have got any snap indicating VAT extra, please forward the same to me by email. This would facilitate me in compiling a case. more

Ramakrishna ji ,It depend on company to company , in most of the retail shop i.e Pantaloon , Ritu wear in Pacific Mall -Ghaziabad, Shipra MallIndirapuram Ghaziabad , Cross river Mall - Suraj Mal Vihar - Delhi , you will find the retail shops are offering MRP inclusive of taxes & during discount they are mentioning Discount on MRP + VAT extra . This time you visit the mentioned shops to avail discount , please double check . If you feel you are cheated , call the Shop manager & fired them . more
