DISRESPECT TO CORONA INFECTED DECEASED PERSONS

It is highly depressing to read news about the local people’s objection to bury / cremate the corona infected deceased persons in their locality. This is happening all over India and particularly more so in Tamil Nadu.

Recently, a medical doctor who was treating the corona patients got himself infected and died. A civilized society would treat him as a martyr. However, when his dead body was taken for burial, the local people protested and the police had to plead with them. However, the local people refused and the police had to take the body to another location where too local people resisted and then to a third place, when this martyr doctor was buried.

For any person, death is certain and inevitable,. However, ignorant protestors seem to think that the death is far away from them and therefore , they are so cruel in treating the corona infected deceased persons with disrespect and hostility.

In all such cases of protests , it is not one or two persons but hundred or two hundred persons join the protest. Have we become a insensitive and uncivilized society to hate the dead bodies ?

It is our national character to raise issues out of nothing. These fools themselves do not know what they are talking. A dead body is a dead body and should be cremated as per wish of his family members. People makiNg issue on last rites of the deceased need be dealt with strictly. more
I think awareness is not there with people. Media is only showcasing on the state numbers but nobody has touched on this topic. Media should let doctors talk about this aspect every day so people would not panic when a Covid patient dies. I too am unaware about this that what happens after someone dies of Covid, is it safe to bury or cremate them and what are the precautions to be taken as per WHO. This kind of media exposure would sensitize the public and reduce the fear and panic. I am also from Chennai and this doctor who passed away is known through a friend. I really broke down and cried my eyes out when I got to know the incident. Nobody on this earth should go through this. Just think of the family, the wife and children what they would have undergone, I cannot even imagine the grief and sorrow on firstly passing of the loved one and on top of it, the body was taken around to so many places for burial, with people throwing stones and being beaten with logs. No dignity in death? Dear God, please let us not turn into inhuman creatures with no feelings and emotions no matter what. Help us to be compassionate and caring to the families who are losing their loved ones to this terrible pestilence. more
Fear is the reason, which is not CORRECT. ________________________________ From: N.S.Venkataraman Sent: Tuesday, April 21, 2020 9:20 AM To: bhatiakanwal@hotmail.com Subject: "DISRESPECT TO CORONA IN..." more
