Dhabas in Gurgaon

This incident occurred last week. There is one Welcome dhaba near Bldg. no. 14, DLF Cyber city phase 3, Gurgaon. A group of customers ordered paneer here and they found "a piece of a rat" among the paneer pieces in it. They argued with the person at the counter and also accused the cook of putting the piece deliberately in the dish (which was quite obvious), but he did not accept his mistake. However, after that, the dhaba's sales have dropped and few people are spotted here now.
Through these incidents only we come to know about the alarmingly sub-standard state of the local dhabas and the unhygienic conditions in which they prepare food.
Such cases need to be reported by Consumers first and foremost to the police for immediate action, and then they can approach the courts/ forums. They can take pictures or make videos for evidence. Also, inspection teams of the concerned govt. department need to give surprise visits to these dhabas at regular intervals, and cancel their license if required. more

Mr Satya Pal's suggestion is eminently practicable and implementable, and should be enforced more
Dear Shri Satya Pal Ji, Your suggestions are very very valid and important. If implemented it will make a significant change. However, these numbers are to be working and properly manned. Usually such numbers does not get picked up. Another point is all eateries joints have to have valid registration/licence. How many have got such licence? Is it that health department and FSSAI are not aware of it. more
What Sanjay Kumar is suggested is practicable. In the case of petrol pumps and LPG dealers, the Oil Companies have made it mandatory to provide the contact details of the officers concerned. more
Make it mandatory for "all kinds of eateries" including those in food courts, hotels and guesthouses to display telephone numbers of the local health office inspector and police station which may be contacted in cases as described by Mr Wahi. Your case becomes weak and disputable once you've left the scene. Even photographs as proof do not help thereafter. more
Health authorities are generally expected to make rounds of inspection of dhabas and other eateries. But as usual they are lax. The only solution is that the complainant should call up the health officer of the locality and report the matter. more
