Deploying CSR funds for ethics and integrity awareness - Citizen Inputs

1. CSR funding for ethics and integrity awareness creation need to be deployed to create awareness at grass root levels
2. The funds could be used to conduct specialized courses for school and college teachers and students
3. CSR funds could be utilized to create awareness amongst officials of central and state Government at all levels including municipality, police, power corporation, property registration offices, tax offices, etc.
4. Most of the RWAs are extremely efficient and willing to share the social responsibility and will pass it to residents old, young, ladies and children – they could be bought under the gambit of CSR
5. Social media has a huge penetration nowadays and social media platforms working towards awareness and implementation of social causes should allowed CSR funding
6. A lot of promotional activities must be conducted to influence the mind and bring about attitudinal changes through specially designed program modules on awareness of how to prevent corruption
7. Corruption impacts life of an individual/public in several direct and indirect ways. Had this impact is known to the people at large the propensity to corrupt, propensity to become corrupt and ultimately the corruption gets reduced. Hence large scale and multi media campaign requires funding. The CSR funds may be pooled and channeled through NGOs for this purpose
8. Awareness campaign and forming groups to boost knowledge and confidence to stand up against corruption should be allowed to get CSR funding. more

Kutty sir I would not advise corporate to run any csr activity. Most of them are already doing so. This activity should be run by like minded citizens of India including retired armed forces guys (and not just army please), young and middle aged citizens who are able to dedicate their time and efforts to this activity. it should be a combination of such groups. and yes it should refrain from being a group of so called PPP (public private partnership). Not all NGO are fighting for their cause they say. we need to remember nearly all NGO work on P&L as their target - hence the look at money coming so that it can be spent - when money or revenue is a issue to be tackled then where can one do justice to the activity they want to focus on. Foundation should focus on getting money, people should focus on working on deliverables. period. more
India is strong at education, but poor in many other areas. Why CSR funds not used for bringing up poor children? Private orphanages normally cannot provide the necessary level of help. Can we ask the companies to run orphanages under strict supervision? more
It has been my consistent observation that in most of the government offices, including the Passport, RTO, etc., no specific timeframes for various paid services are displayed either in public domain or on display anywhere. The given telephone numbers or email ids are often found to be non-functional or evasive. Still the culture of the official being a lord and the citizen applicant a slave is prevalent and rampant in most of the government offices. Unless each one of us becomes aware of anti-corruption process, viz., application of RTI Act, 2005, complaints to ACB/CBI, CVC, etc., more and more complaints and cases are booked against the corrupt officials, corruption in government offices cannot be tackled by government alone. more
NGOs like Public Concern for Governance Trust(PCGT), Mumbai, that fights for transparency and accountability in governance through RTI and other democratic processes, may be CSR-funded. more
In my view, there should be a penalty clause for the delay by the public servant. For example, if the citizen delays for the payment/reply, one has to justify but the same is not applicable by the Govt. Servant. In other words, matter delays are matter denied. Dr N C Jain more
