Delhi Power Bills to be Reduced

Wonder what our AAP friends have to say to this.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Wednesday said the electricity bills of 84 per cent of households in the capital would be reduced because of the measures announced in the Central and state Budget. Jaitley said a political solution would have to be found to end the stalemate here, with either fresh elections being held or a party forming the government.

The Budget was termed as ‘election budget’ by the Opposition parties in the Lok Sabha, as Jaitley had announced Rs 260 crore power subsidy.

“Because of the provisions in the Central budget and this budget, 84 per cent of the households will get reduced power bills,” he said, adding `700 crore has been provided for power and water reforms. In his speech, the he repeated the measures announced earlier. more

Bad game. Public should understand that 100% of their problems are due to subsidies., more
Since you have moved this problem which can be taken up to the concerned for necessary action as committed in the Budget by Finance Minister and hoping he will abide by his word G.K.Naidu, Hyderabad more
There was lots of criticism when AAP announced the subsidy as a temporary relief, pending CAG audit of discoms. Any way. it is good if the general public is getting any relief Subsidies, however, are not good for Indian Economy. Consumers must pay for the services. It is to be ensured that the consumers are being billed correctly and that the frivolous expenses are not loaded in determining tariffs. Discoms should be eligible for a reasonable profit and not rip in to the consumer's pocket. more
For opposition, it is very simple - If you give relief, you are presenting an election budget.... if you do not, you are insensitive to aam aadmi's suffering.... eh! more
