Delhi (and other Metro's) would now be paying a NEW TAX

Just caught some News yesterday on Times Now that Delhi-ites and also other metro residents where traffic density in some areas is very high, the vehicle users would now have to shell out a new Tax : "CONGESTION TAX". There were arguments among panel members and callers also were chipping in with their viewpoints. While buying a vehicle the owner pays: Life Time Road Tax (RTO) as also Insurance, so why then should he be made to pay congestion tax? It now seems that it is the initiative of Delhi Government to introduce this tax to make people switch to public transportation and other modes to reduce congestion on those 21 odd identified roads. But has the Government got the infrastructure of Public Transport in place? DTC is short by over 3500 buses with its current fleet almost outliving its usage age and we see BREAKDOWNS as new display board of many buses even in the morning hours and it is just the beginning of summer. Car Pool and Scooter pool Ads are good only on Television. Can a lady or a girl trust a stranger to ride with him in pooling? more

Sometime back the Chawri Bazaar traders were allocated a developed market and land near Indrapuram - Delhi/Ghaziabad border but they did not shift. Often traders whose roots in the place goes back to time when the area was a barren piece of land and the traders developed and grew with the area and population find themselves being thrown out because people who once favored them are no longer there and new leaders in RWA think of these traders as nuisance. Would a person from Delhi travel all the way to Ghaziabad to buy his stationary? more
Delhi-ites would have to pay for their sin of siding with AAP to defeat BJP. So congestion tax for those punjabi's who prefer to drive around CP, Lajpat Nagar, Sarojini Nagar and other up-markets instead of walking and taking public transport. The dozen marathons Sunday after Sunday is to ensure that people get into the habit of running as the Government is getting ready to drive them real hard. :) more
Congestion mess in Delhi is 100% due to mess created by traders 1 who open shops in residential buildings and DDA flats. 2 then they encroach on public utility land by illegally extending their shops. 3 still further they occupy the footpath by keeping their wares on footpath or letting hawker type fellows to sell auxiliary items. 4 then road space is occupied by traders parking their own vehicles . Aa most travel by cars owned by ill gotten money. 5 after that comes turn of shoppers who park their vehicles right in front of shop from whereever they want to buy. So THAt causes congestion for common people. More over 99% of traders causing congestion on roads are tax chors of utmost category. I dare every politician as well as traders associstion worth its salt to prove me wrong or enter into an argument in front of TV cameras including Delhi CM more
How about unauthorized colonies? Would they also pay congestion tax? more
Horrible .. So now it's going to be Road Tax, Insurance, Congestion Tax, Parking Fees, etc. etc. After a few years, they will merge all these into another Gabbar Vehicle Luxury Tax @ 28% cost of the car, payable every year !!!! more
Single Word: RUBBISH like EVEN ODD. Enhancing the revenues by means of taxes is not a sensible approach. AAP governing skills are no different from other political parties. Sad to know such non-sense attitude causing difficulties to educated cadre and passing on the benefits to VOTE BANK seeking everything free. more
