Corruption in State Electricity Boards

State Electricity Board Officials (for ex: Noida) asking for 2000 bribe when trying to make a 30,000 payment with 500/1000 notes. Are others facing something similar? Why cant finance ministry place 3 officials in each district to ensure people are not being harassed like this... more

Most of the organisations with very large public interface are in States' domain. And the state administrations are notoriously lackadaisical in effectively stopping corruption. the solution lies only in creating a national organisation like a Lokpal with its own echelons across the nation to deal with corruption cases and there should be a stipulation to reach final decisions on the cases within a fixed period.Sure enough there will be terrible resistance from the states on the plea that this is an attempt to intrude into the states' powers and so very anti federal. There is a need to reach a consensus on this like what we achieved on GST. more
Please send an application to the higher authorities stating the position clearly. After a week again send an application that you are forced to pay the bribe since no action seems to be forth coming. Further after a week write to the vigilence stating the position clearly and that you have no option but to pay the amount to get the job done. They will guide you to get the job done. Thanks more
In Mumbai Big Bazar is accepting demonetised 500/1000 rupee notes though they are not permitted & as well accept card payment. more
Anybody demanding such extra bribe should be reported with officials name(if possible) otherwise post/designation place of the office and time just with the name of the person reporing/complaining. The money is only going back to Govt system, till such date the govt has announced. They go Scot free because nobody reports more
I agree with Arupratan. You cant expect Authorities to depute officials to stop this corrupt practice. Report the name of person demanding money. Shout loudly saying that the person is demanding the bribe and people waiting in line will support you and his higher officials will be forced to come to your help. more
