Corruption in Sales Tax / VAT dept
Actually every CA and Advocate or their staff goes in VAT department to get the work What is work when VAT was introduced somewhere in 2007 there was no need to get the assessment done but when STOs thought about their income They started calling parties to get the assessment Now because every Professionals don't hesitate to give money because they get it from party. So in department clerk takes money for issuing forms. Initially STO or ASTO didn't demand money for that but not they also demand. I remember one day one STO didn't have his car so he took lift from one Advocate on that particular day he has 60 packets of Rs 5000 each you can imagine their daily income. What the Govt is doing every body knows but they get the share so keep mum more

Who is the ultimate boss of a ministry?? Minister !!!! How minister is elected, buy spending crores of money. How we elect them?? Based on the caste , creed , known to me etc. In democracy, there is election. And when there is election, there will be corruption. In rajtantra, as is King , so is the people. In Prajatantra, Democracy, "As is people, so is the King. " Money is very important in the present system. So, right implementation of social security schemes is very very important irrespective of Neta's will. Once people are strong, they will guide the Neta. Otherwise, Neta will guide the people. more

In West Bengal the govt. is pressing hard on the Commercial Tax Officers for raising revenue. A number of search & seize are being conducted by the officers and find out a way to make lakhs of money in a day as well as rewards from the Department. I am revealing a fact knowing from a trusted employee of the seized company. on 6th July 2015 a group of 5 to 6 officials from Commercial Tax Department raided with the help of local police one renowned Bar cum Restaurant naming 'Suswagatam' at Gariahat (starting point of Flyover from North) owned by one Executive Committee member of Mohunbagan Club. They assessed the quantum of evasion of yearly tax amounts to Rs. 110 lakh. Then the lady officials negotiate with the owner as follows : the owner has to pay Rs. 75 lakh in cash instantly out of which Rs. 45 lakh would be deposited in the Govt. A/C and the rest of Rs.30 lakh will be shared by the officials. In addition, they will be rewarded by the Department for collection of 3 times additional revenue amounting to Rs.45lakh (As actual tax paid by the owner was about 15 lakh). The deal was final as the owner not only saved Rs. 35 lakh instantly but he would be allowed to evade tax to the tune of Rs. 65 lakh in the next year as he would pay Rs. 60 lakh instead of Rs.125lakh. more

corruption is a tradition in govt depts. like excise, customs, sales tax. perhaps it is also a source of income for politicians for posting people in those positions. no govt has done anything worthwhile in this direction. only public pressure on politicians thro forums like these can bring about change. it may be a good idea to open a local circle to report bribes paid by people so that it comes out into the open and forums like transperancy international can analyse and highlight the corrupt depts. in Bangalore, "Janagraha" a well known and respected NGO has a site called " I paid a bribe" where people who were subjected to and succumbed to the pressure and paid a bribe can report the same. more

Even after filing online returns they are calling the parties with the intention of taking money.why the Govt. is not installing CC camera on each check post and their offices?An audit of all the notices issued should be done surprisingly to know the facts. The Govt. revenue will certainly increased with the closer of this office after introduction of GST. more
