Corruption in Registration of Death Department.
I am shocked that a family grieving the loss of a loved is not given peace even in the matter of the death of their family member. Recently it was discovered by a family that the death certificate issued to them 7 years ago was fake. They were told that the death was not recorded and that they should provide all the documents and records of the said death once again. Seven months later the death certificate mysteriously is still elusive and has not been received. It is the heights of corruption that doesn't allow a death of a citizen to be recorded and this cannot be accepted.
Moreover, there is another practice to do with registering the death of a person who passes away in accident needs to be rectified. Families have to travel to the municipal office in the area where the accident took place. Instead they should be allowed to register the death in their own local municipal office and the municipal office authorities should see that the records in the area where the accident took place are also updated with that record of death.
Imagine when a death that takes place in a remote area or another state - the amount of pain and grief it will cause the family of the deceased will be tremendous. Thus this rule should be scrapped and rectified so that the authorities do the tallying and update the records of death in the corresponding area of the accident without putting the family of the deceased to any trouble at all.
Bribes were asked by officials at the mortuary, police station and the municipality in the said case and the family in grief had no choice but to give in. Officials found to be bribing the family of deceased should be severely punished to the extent of losing their jobs after a serious warning. more

It is a climax of corruption, negligence, inefficiency and laid-back attitude of Public servants, beyond normal tolerance level of a commoner. Right to Public, Civic services Act with strict penalties should be brought in to active play. It is high time. more

Request you to directly write to the PMO giving all relevant details and await actions. Go to www.mygov.nic.in, go to "Interact with the PM". Register yourself, and send the details. You will get complaint number in your registered mobile as well as in your email. more

It is really a very mean act .I had a similar experience.My mother was referred to a Corporate hospital in Vizag. She expired on the way. The hospital refused to give a death certificate, though they wrote "received dead". I then complained to the authorities who issue the death certificate.I showed them the referral slip of the hospital where treated and the corporate hospital. They made me run twice.But I was adamant not to pay a pie as bribe.Finally the certificate was issued. after 3-4 days.I must have spent Rs 300/= on petrol.But it was worth it.But how many people will do like this? They will shell out money and settle the matter by paying bribe and call it an expedient act! more

Anti corruption department should act and arrest such persons on the complaint of public. Necessary action must be taken against them and if found again then he must be terminated from the service. more
