Corruption at Police

Other day, I happen to meet a Police Constable at Navi Mumbai. He told me that, his monthly take home salary is around Rs. 20,000 per month. He lives in Navi Mumbai and has to pay nearly Rs. 4,500 per month for rent in a Chawl. He had a kid which was only a few months old. Under normal conditions he has to spend nearly 12 hours a day on duty and in exceptional conditions, there is no time limit. And of course there is no overtime is paid to him. If his statement is correct, can we really understand how he and his family is surviving and what could be his monthly savings? If my understanding is correct, a Bus conductor at BEST earns much more than him and is entitled for overtime as well. Can we really believe, under these circumstances, the Police could be corruption free? Or not be influenced by Politically powerful people? Let us think twice. more

police salary should be increase so that they can maintain the dignity of their post more
Not only the salary of the Politicians be increased, the salary of employees also needs to be improved to make the country corruption free. more
The idea of giving less salary to teachers and police is a way to to ensure more corruption money for politicians . The teachers guard you mentally and police guard y ou physically. The more the transfers to lucrative locations as per decisions of the politicians the more the money from behind the curtain auctions of such locations for the politicians. Same goes for transfer of teachers in Govt schools from one region to another. more
His statement might be correct. This is true that the police could not enjoy the family life, there is no fix time of duties. But before entering the police department they know they aRE BOUND BY rules. So this is not a reason for corrucption. more
Public servants cannot be paid so less and expect them to be honest. Its difficult to survive with 20K salary today. Public servants like police, revenue/taluk departments officers should be given good salaries. At the same time, there should be zero tolerance for corruption allegations. more
