Contaminated yellowish drinking water DJB W Delhi

Here is a 1 minute video I shot yesterday of the freshly filled water from DJB which was filled in the water tank of my house in Nihal Vihar, Nangloi, New Delhi.

Video Link - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AmspVhAFMg0

This water is not an exception for a day or two. This happened many times before. Even water purifiers cannot purify this for drinking purpose. Just see the video for your self once.

The water has strong sewage like smell, yellow in color and even after 3 stage filtering the smell did not go.

We all need to address quality of water also not just quantity. I feel for those who cannot afford buying water from outside or filtering it, or using purifiers.

This water if drank by children, elderly etc can almost kill them. Shouldn't this contaminated water supply from DJB considered as a criminal offense?

Water is an essential commodity, supply is imp, also imp is the quality. Most people will drink this fresh water as it is. Should we allow this? more

THIS FOR ALL BJP/CONGRESS BLIND FOLLOWERS. EVEN THE MOST HARMFUL ENEMY OF AAP THE LG COULD NOT STOP PRAISING DJB UNDER AAP GOVERNMENT: Jat quota stir: AAP govt’s DJB gets praise from LG Jung for tackling recent water crisis "I wish to place on record my appreciation for your admirable performance in course of the management of recent water crisis in Delhi," Jung said in his letter to the CEO. Recently, water supply was severely hit in many parts of Delhi after Jat agitators damaged Munak Canal in Haryana. The AAP government has decided to prepare a backup plan for alternative sources of water so that residents don’t face such a problem in future. The DJB has been directed by the government to prepare a plan so that the city has 7-10 days water backup to cope with any crisis. - See more at: http://indianexpress.com/article/cities/delhi/jat-quota-stir-delhi-jal-board-water-crisis-najeeb-jung-arvind-kejriwal-aam-aadmi-party/#sthash.h73dhpjh.dpuf more
Hi all......it is not AAP government that the water is yellwish in colour. I live in Outer North Delhi currently in Bhalaswa Dairy. I have lived in Yadav Nagar, Rohini Sec 16, Swaroop Nagar & finally here in Bhalaswa. Except Rohini Sec 16, We always have muddy, yellowish or brownish water. Only Rohini sec 16 got us the most clear & clean water without any need of purification, however other sector were & are still complaining. In swaroop Nagar I stayed in rent of a DJB employee who told us the reddish or brownish water has more iron content. However we felt i undrinkable. Finally we are using 7 steps RO to drink clean water. I am in Delhi sine 1999 & facing this problem. It is not question of AAP govt. It is problem of leaking pipes at many places. it is problem of people making self connection in unauthorised colonies to tap piped water. This all results in getting mud & soil into the pipes. It is our duty to get regularised connections from DJB & make complaints to DJB whenever we find pipes leaking to help less soil penetrate in pipes. more
SEPTIC TANK: ITS USE AND MISUSE The tendency of major political parties to suggest septic toilets as “quick fix” remedy (Shouchalayas) can be a serious threat of E.coli infection in future, especially in population dense states like Delhi, Pondicherry and Kerala as well as in the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu, Seemandhra, Goa and Gujarat. Something similar happened in frothy contamination of “YAMALUR” lake in Bangluru where it is alleged that septic tank waste opened into river. ONE EXAMPLE OF SEPTIC TANK MISUSE: There are more than 25 private operators with more than 60 vehicles (each with a capacity of 5,000 liters) working daily in and around Kochi in Kerala collecting and dumping about 600, 000 liters of sludge, in the open environment without any treatment. While open defecation means fecal matter is spread around in smaller quantities, septage dumping means discharge of highly concentrated pathogens with potential to cause significant health and environmental damages. Local newspapers are frequently reporting on incidences of septage dumped in water bodies and paddy fields and villagers agitating against illegal dumping, sometimes even beating up the workers of the operators. Septage brought from cities is allegedly contaminating the drinking water sources. [Kerala’s Looming Sanitation Challenge: Blog By Suseel Samuel On Wed, 04/03/2013] ANIMAL RESOURCES HAS A GOOD POTENTIAL TO OPTIMISE WATER USE AND ENSURE ONE HEALTH COMMUNITY LATRINES: China use pigs in community toilets for sanitation and waste utilization. They collect the water hyacinth, add it and feed pigs. In India in some rural pockets free ranging pigs scavenge open latrine. Solid human and animal wastes are a source of energy and manure. SEPERATION LATRINES When urine and solid waste are mixed, they start to ferment. In the Separation toilet no such process occurs and unpleasant smell is less. Separation toilet produces the most fertile fertilizer. The separation is used to recycle the solid waste back to nature as biogas and organic fertilizer. The process inactivates human pathogens so that the waste can be composted harmlessly. Handling the liquid is easy. It is mixed with eight parts water to make good fertilizer for garden! Large sewage system, certainly not flushing water is needed; it is a benefit to the environment China had 685,000 separation toilets spread among 17 provinces in 2003. LIQUID: Handling the liquid is easy. It is mixed with eight parts water to make good fertilizer for garden! Large sewage system, certainly not flushing water is needed; it is a benefit to the environment. It is often not discussed that urine contains 11-1-2% respectively of N-P-K (Sodium-Phosphorous-Potassium) which if properly harvested can be a good source of fertilizer for agriculture. Govt is importing and subsidizing fertilizer worth 40,000 crores annually. A dairy cow excretes 25 liters urine/day or 9000 liters annually. This urine being alkaline can be highly useful for correcting (acidic) soil. Solid human and animal wastes are a source of energy and manure. An average person voids 350-700ml of urine 4-7 times a day. The normal range is 800 to 2000 milliliters per day with normal fluid Human urine being acidic can to an extent be used in alkaline soil. Lime is used to sanitize urine which if diluted with 8 times water can be a good replacement for import of fertilizer. Cow urine can be a good pest repeller if diluted and sprayed on vegetable leaves. There is ample scope to explore the role of animals and the use of animal waste management for sustainable sanitation through scientific veterinary intervention. Use of manure gas (Gobar gas) though limited (0.3% & 0.1%) is an eco-friendly a method that need be considered and improved to suit each region. Dear Mr. Akshar: Thanks for the efforts made by you. Unfortunately all gullible Delhi voters fell for the deceptive pronouncements and vows made by Arvind Khejriwal and AAP. Not that other parties are clean, but this turned out to be the worst in the known history. I fondly hope that AAP would be routed out. The supply of this contaminated water is not the making of AAP and creator is congress who brought Delhi and India to this state. However if AAP was half as honest as the declarations and vows made then they would have had the credibility and Delhi would certainly have seen huge improvement. AAP is still bent upon playing gimmicks and perhaps banking on the next elections for a win as well. His only target and motive now looks to be to fight BJP and nothing more. If he was so honest why should he join hands with opposition like Lalu, Mulayam, congress, CPI and all that band wagon. I am not into politics and therefore not a baitor of any party. All said and done until now BJP is on right track of creating and strengthening the base which has utterly rotted under congress for 60 years. Perhaps deviated from main topic - AAP has had no pure agenda to work but only amass wealth as all others have done and are doing. more
