Ban on Ravan Dahan
The DM should look at putting a blanket ban on burning of Ravan Dahan or Ravan effigys in the district. Air quality has deteriorated by 6 times in last 3 weeks and by burning Ravan when AQI is 300+ is nothing but suicide. All religious sentiments respected but health comes first. more

Knowingly or unknowingly it appears to be only attacking Hindu culture. No way burning of effigy once a year can be serious cause of pollution comparing to no of vehicles on road. more

The burning of the effigy of Ravan and his brothers was introduced when Sant Tulsidas introduced Ramlila. It has a symbolic significance, but has no religious or spiritual significance. But does it cause serious pollution? Or is it another move to humiliate the hindus? What about the sentiment of the millions of Hindus ? It needs a healthy debate. more
