Airline dark patterns issue

Airlines still are continuing to use lots of dark patterns as evident in the LocalCircles report. Biggest problem is the refund processing on timely basis and seat selection charges (with no free seats many times)

Best part is how their manipulative practices come out in the open through our surveys. Also quite noteworthy are your screenshots of how it happens.

If there is an easy way for these to be presented in the circle, it will make more people aware more

Essentially, its more about transparency and manner of charge rather than what they are extracting in a sly manner by virtually duping consumers. Airlines do have to run profitably but not become anti-customer and get into deceptive acts. For example, charging 5-10x for flights from Kashmir after the terrorist attack or if someone has to travel in an emergency is anti-national in my view. Recently, there was a death in the family and I had to travel at very short notice. I paid almost 8x the normal price of a air ticket. Now someone will say that its all fair and square as airlines should not lose money!! However, this kind of act is profiteering. I am not even mentioning about getting anything free from any airline. more
Since last few years travelling in Airlines have come so complicated with Dark Patterns. Specially when you are charged Rs.100, Rs.200, Rs.300 & so on, it also feels like sitting in Aeroplane & Auto both because one needs to pay extra charges for securing a preferable seat. Earlier it was not there seats were allotted on first come first serve basis. Why creating luxury or matter of choice in lieu of money? Why can't be just a fare price? It's not only affecting consumers but it is also affecting the Airlines Business. We have many premier Airlines like Jet Airways, Kingfisher Airlines died simply because of who price war. Sahara Airlines, Go Air, Deccan, Jet Lite and so on. more
No frill airlines are like that all over the world. Have you run a business and stay operating if you start giving free things and cutting profit line? NOT more
In the last 4 times I booked I did not get free seats even in the last row which all of you know is non reclining and is uncomfortable. Since Indigo has become a monopoly, it is behaving in a most awful manner. more
