AAPs Onion Scam
What led to this was way back when the crisis hit the capital city of Delhi the moment Aam Aadmi Party govt decided to provide onion at a subsidised price. AAP claimed to provide the onion at Rs 30 per kg at 280 fair-price shops and mobile vans. They also claimed to bring down the rates in Delhi. But the rates of onions went on to go higher and higher. People started targeting AAP for triggering the price rise of onions in the national capital.
The Aam Aadmi Party claimed to purchase onions at Rs 40 per kg kg and selling the same to people at Rs 30 per kg. But now it seems it was nothing but a false promise. Apparently as per the RTI replies AAP procured the onions at a much cheaper price of Rs 18 a kg. The same they sold to people in the national capital for Rs 30. National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Limited (NAFED) pointed out why AAP must reveal how much the profit margin has gone up. The government did not supply enough onions n the market post which the price of the onions sky rocketed.
As per the RTI the AAP government began the sale of onions starting from August 10 at the rates that they claimed to provide the onions for. But they only sold 575.32 metric tonnes of onions till September 2, which pointed out that more than 4,400 metric tonnes of onions remained not being sold. The remaining onions were stored in godowns while the price of the onions continued to go up in the markets. For Delhiites the price of onion skyrocketed to Rs 80 per kg and did not come down below Rs 60-per-kg mark. more

This scam is the product of media , BJP and congress who never like goodnessto bedone for delhite .It should censured.Moreover.so called ACB chief Meena has planned to enquire into the matter who is himself facing scam. more

Mr.Subrata Guha I request to you please advice the AAP party to file a case against this channel so in future no one dare to show/ publish any false news. It will not be better for delhi people that the AAP govt. file a case against any court of law instead of publish one full page AD in all the news papers, can any body explain what is the public interest involve in this AD. crore rupees has been spent only to clear his point. more

Theoretically inflation can be triggered by imbalance of demand and supply. If the triggering reason remains to be imbalance of demand and supply then it does not match with the fact that India is the largest Milk producer in the world, 2nd in veg & fruits and 6th in meat production. India produces 270 MT food grains sufficient to feed 600gms per person per day. We had a shortage of Onion and sky rocketing of its price in 2012-13 that was before the general election. Now again as the local body elections are round the corner there is a price rise in the offing. The annual production shows a steep rise of onion production year after year. In 2007 India produced 8885 Million metric Tons (MMT) of onion, in 2008 =9138, in 2009= 13,588, in2010 =12,191, 2012= 15,748. As per Directorate of Onion and garlic the production of onion in 2013-14 was 19401.69. Supply of onion in markets increased to 1.1 billion tonnes in 2013-14 from 951.9 million tonnes in the previous year and 920 million tonnes in 2011-12. One is left to wonder why the price has suddenly shot up? When govt is mulling import of onions it may also be noted that India produces 4% onion bulbs of the world (US produce 4.5%). more
