AAP not joining Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

I think AK is loosing it. He is becoming political more than ever and trying to win safai karamchari votes rather than working on something that is good. Not a good idea.

The AAP Tuesday said that it would join the nation in cleanliness drive Oct 2, but would not be a part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to be launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Earlier, AAP chief had tweeted: "AAP will join Swachh Bharat Abhiyan on 2nd Oct. But condition of safai karamchari ought to be improved if we want a clean India."

However, AAP spokesperson Nagendar Sharma said that Kejriwal's quote cannot be disputed but that was not the official line of the party."

"We won't be the part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan," he added.

Meanwhile, responding to Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu's call to participate in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal dismissed the drive as being merely "symbolic" and not enough to make the country clean.

In a Sep 23 letter addressed to Kejriwal, Naidu had appealed to the Aam Aadmi Party to "actively contribute in this Clean India drive and ensure people's participation in full."

In response to Naidu's call, the AAP chief said that while his party workers were already involved in cleanliness activities, "we cannot make India clean by such actions."

"It is being heard that on Oct 2, the Prime Minister will pick up the broom at Valmiki Sadan. It is good, though it is merely symbolic," Kejriwal said in his reply.

"Such a symbolic gesture may inspire people, but it is certainly not enough to make the country clean," the letter said. more

Dear Ranjana Ji there is nothing good in MOdi's drive for clean India only by boom that is why AK refused to be a part of swach bharat abiyan. more
I think Kejriwal is loosing it every day and will soon be left as an activist. What a failed experiement. Fell on its face. more
Sir, The whole country's head has been hung in shame at the comments from SC of India "......GOVT WITH TAINTED MINISTERS WITH SERIOUS CHARGES......", Govt mum on this cleanliness. The whole country is ashamed of it, forget about the share with Congress from the loot of Rs186000 Crore in coal block allotments since 1993. (SC cancels 214 allotments out of 218, & confirms earlier report submitted by CAG to b correct ) Govt comfortable with CBI director accused mtgs with 2G/Coal scam accused at his residence. Dear Ranjana ji, Most of the comments are from hard core supporters of Kejriwalji. They refused to see the reason and criticing for the sake of criticing. If they are really supporters of Kejriwal, they should understand the situation. Firstly symbolism in politics is very important. One person has mentioned Shashtriji but has conveniently forgotten the symbolism created by him. Those were days of food shortage. Shashtri ji had started observing Monday evening fast and had also urged the countrymen to do so. Believe me Many hotels used to close themselves on monday evening and lakhs of people had started observing fast on monday. This has not solved the food problem but gave us a purpose and those who were fasting on monday felt that they are contributing something for the country. There were a sense of involvement which is very important. Secondly, Modi is a hardcore politician which Kejriwal is not. Gradually he is taking such initiatives which will make other politicians especially Kejriwal irrelevant. Besides he has raised his stature to such a high level that these politicians are appearing pigmies in comparison to him. I do not want to uncessarily and blindly support or criticise anybody but we must see things in proper perspective and then comment. Somebody has also challenged that how can India be free from filth in one day. But who is saying it. Modi has already given time upto 2019 and I think even if we can achieve 50% of what he is saying, it will be a great achievement. Thanks more
Ranjanaji, I simply quote Mr Jagdish Singhji's comments once again 4 shameless BJP & supporters like u.....Why Mr. Prime Minister is wasting crores of rupee from the exchequer on security etc. for a symbolic cleaning. Why this gimmick & drama. Heart weeps to see every politician ,so engrossed in pleasing Modi that they have forgotten to remember the Bharat Ratan Late Sh. Lal Bahadur Shastri's birth day ,today. Now if u dnt reply, we will take it for granted that BJP/yourself acknowledge & accept it and also 2 my earlier reply for u/BJP. Subrata Guha more
