My doctor tells me I have developed flat-feet. It is quite painful. Every time I get up, my feet feel like lead. After few minutes it is better, but the arches of my heels hurt. Apart from insoles, is there any other treatment in alternative medicine for this? more

Dear Upasana . Flat foot is a medical condition which is commonly a inherited from parents . Some time we develope due injury of some muscles supporting the arches of foot . Arches develope while development stages once flat foot developed it's difficult to deal with . People having flat foot have pain in calf , shin pain and long standing fatigue . Treatment options : 1. Strengthen the muscles supporting the arches . Foot up and down with some weight and without weights . 2. Stretch the sole (plantar fascia) daily 3. Curl your toes inward and out wards (try putting some cloth or towel under your toes and trying gathering it towards your soul . 4.Use arch support in your shoes made up of silicon available in stores . 5. Use shoes having extra arch support as well sleepers having cushion . 6. Deep fraction massage on heels and in mid of the soul with thumb using pressure . Hope this helps you . more

Dear Upasanaji: I can suggest you a simple method, but, it has to be done religiously. Go to any shop selling acupressure instruments and ask them for a wooden foot roller. Use this roller atleast 3 times a day, but, please do not roll it on an EMPTY STOMACH or FULL STOMACH. If your stomach is empty take 2 biscuits and a glass of water the after 15 minutes you can roll your feet using the foot roller. If your stomach is full then do this after 45 minutes of taking any food. Roll only one foot at a time. I am confident that you would get lot of relief. Please do this religiously. Regards, Dr.Sriraam, Kolkata. more
