People who are paying tax are salaried employees. Big business establishments may not have paid tax and may be many cases in courts. Government should bring in a way in which no one will avoid paying tax. May be transaction fee for each of the transaction in bank may help to collect more tax. For this to be successful 1000, 500 denominations should be removed from circulations. This will reduce the money stored illegally and bring down the black money. more
sushil ji totally correct, but govt should make vigilance mor powerfull and nail the big IAS lobby,i think financial problem of country will be over only with this ias\ips lobby more
Wrong assessment is one of the ways in which the government finances itself. For AY 2010-11, I had claimed refund of about 21000. For the three assessment years between AY 2006-07 and 2010-11, the IT department reassessed my tax liability exactly to suit this refund claim and I received an intimation informing that the claimed refund has been adjusted for tax dues of three preceding assessment years. In one of these three years I had even received refund of Rs.64000. I wonder how could there be a demand in that year when I had received refund far in excess of demand adjusted by IT department. more
Agree with Sushil Pershad. The recent trend is to send a notice from CPC saying that your refund has been adjusted towards some earlier years dues. Interestingly the said notice says that the IT department has issued the Assessment Orders and some these Assessment Orders do not reach the Assessee but the Notice does. ASk for a copy of the Assessment Order, and you never hear from the Department. By creating false demands for earlier years the figures given in the Parliament about Tax dues is wrong. All such cases should be looked into and the concerned Officers should be actioned upon for mental torture and falsification of Government Accounts. more
Wrong and inflated assessments are the order of the day in Commercial taxes (Sales Tax) Dept. This promotes corruption and to harassment of the assessees. more
