Most of us never check newspaper bill being received monthly. Whatever amount is being charged by the newspaper vendor one pay without checking. It takes about a minute to check and calculate specially where the customers are buying paper in combo. There is no additional amount payable other than what is printed on the newspaper. As an example, the TOI and NBT together comes at a price of Rs. 7.00 from Monday to Friday and Rs. 7.50 each on Saturday and Sunday. The maximum bill in a month of 31 days should not exceed Rs. 222/- per month.

I have noticed that most of the newspaper vendor are charging something Rs. 20 to 30/- or so extra over the printed price of the newspaper. One would say what is Rs. 30 or so extra. But if we just think that any newspaper vendor is serving to somewhere around 2000 to 3000 customers, this additional amount comes to around Rs. 1 Lakh or so on an average. more

Also, i have to collate material for an appeal in SC against the illegal orders of the District consumer Forum, State and National Commission.

Thank you Virmaniji It was nice of you too to help me out. Yes, I contacted their customer care number first on 17thJan and then wrote an email on 4/2/2014 too whereas they billed on 6/2/2014 and also on 6/32014.

I wrote to their nodal office and to their authoirised store too but to no avail. wrote on their website too but no response.

As rightly stated by you, I am contemplating to write to TRAI and the telecom ministry too on this subject.

When this company is not responding to any effort and collection calls with objectionable tone and expressions keep coming and every time a different person calls claiming ignorance of our communications earlier.

Dear Shri VVS Ji, It was very nice to receive a response from you. I remember I have never advsed any body to approach consumer forum so far as I equally believe for the first and 2nd tier of the complaint redressal. Approach to any court whether civil or consumer is quite time, money and energy consuming at the same time should be used if all other channels have been unsuccessful. I am quite sure you are well aware still I would like to state that the company is required to terminate the connection within 3-7 days of receipt of request depending upon mode of the request for disconnection. You have the right not to pay any bill in case you have record of request for disconnection and also not used the connection thereafter. Even though TRAI is not supposed to handle the complaints but endorsing copy of the complaint helps the consumer to get redressal. There are two level of redressal within the company first is to customer care/nodal official and then Appellate Authority. Please let me know if you need any assistance from me. more
