Dear Delhi consumers: Delhi Govt. has come out with directions to Discoms through DERC for penalty to be paid to electricity consumers in Delhi for unscheduled power cuts. The rate at which penalty is payable at the rate of Rs. 50/- per hour for the first two hours and Rs. 100/- per hour for subsequent period. This was part of regulations (guaranteed standards of performance for electricity) earlier also. But I feel now we should ensure that the same is implemented. The electricity consumers are the best to ensure implementation which is the need of the hour in case we are dedicating to ensure quality of services. I suggest consumers to keep record of the complaint number, date and time at which the power is cut off and the time at which the power gets resumed.

For the information of consumers from other States, provision of such penalties have been made by various State Electricity Regulatory Commissions in their respective States. more

A very good decision and I think kudos to the Delhi Govt to have come out with such solutions. Laws are there for us and in case you think service providers are resorting to unnecessary cuts then drag them in the court.

If we know the main points to be taken care of then it can be implemented too. Even if not implemented it is a deterrent for private ele. companies to do unnecessary power cuts. Do you agree that it is against their monopolies and consumers are one step ahead at least from where they were before. So applaud to Delhi govt here.... more  
Shri Walia Sahab, There is absolutely no cause (even an iota) of any criticism to AAP. These were already existing but without being implemented. I once again reiterate that AAP has only brought out an implementation mechanism while other State Govt. failed to do so and that was the reason of my applauding the action of AAP govt.
