Agree with you. There should be no Duty or GST on Electric Supply to public. But who will take up this issue. All Ministers are getting free supply along with the bungalow so they are not bothered about suffering of common man. Unfortunately this Government has removed existing facility of Senior Citizen Concession so do not expect any relief. more

In the last year Adani has increased the tariff on electricity for residential units by 20% . An additional 16% duty will be crippling. further the new homes and apartments, are energy intensive with increased dependency on dryers, multiple lifts, air conditioning etc. Electricity is a basic necessity for all and not a luxury item. more

The high electricity duty is charged so that some people get free or subsidised electricity. Ideally, this should be moved to GST under the lowest tax slab of 5%. They should also do away with sundry charges like wheeling charges etc, stop free or subsidised power and have a sane charging basis. more
