it is observed by most industrialists that while they extract the maximum from the work force they are very reluctant to pay what is statutorily due to be payable and always evade welfare schemes to the workmen which is very common with small and medium industries. now if ID Act is amended sacking employees at will, the trend will be obtain loans land and concessions use it for their personal enrichment and close the shutters without taking any liability. The Act therefore should be stringent and at the sametime employee-employer friendly. more

.1.The issue here is not worker. It is the work culture . If the union leaders exploit the worker or that matter management, that has to be curtailed and not firing of the worker arbitrarily. In business , the owner is also required to plan the work force, their benefits and their career plan. The worker should not be treated as one of the expendable material which is used in production. .2. The business men should clearly understand, the wealth is Lakshmi, which belongs to all and the business man for that particular time is a "Trustee of Lakshmi" and is not the absolute owner. His duty(dharma) is to put this wealth in to good use for further multiplication and good of the mankind as a whole. In this context ,the erring worker should be corrected. the surplus worker should be rehabilitated. etc etc. more

Workers should be hired and fired as internationally done with other conditions and three months notice or salary. Unions in India do not let have work decipline and union leaders exploit workers. more
The profitability of many corporate is visible from the graph of dividend declaration, additions to the capital, offers of "buy 1 get 1 or 2 free" like offers. If they had surplus profits they could have reduced the costs rather than these actions. more
While employee accountability for doing his/her job well and diligently towards the employer is essential, at the same time, employee protection, fair wages/facilities and welfare schemes are equally essential from the employer side. You cannot have a hire-and-fire policy like in USA etc. Ours is a relatively poor country, with limited employment opportunities and social stigmas. I think our Govt did well at WTO not to agree to some provisions regarding food subsidies, similarly we must be judicious in applying labour laws. more
