Dear Nagar Ji, India needs to be cleaned on the front of corruption. What Modi is doing is only a way to divert the public attention from focusing on important topics like relations with Pak, China etc where India is loosing badely. more
Sai sandhya and other such events, Rail tracks, Platforms, many other public places and anywhere on road: The most dangerous this is plastic/ polythene. Government can easily control it at the manufacturing units. Almost everything is now being packaged in polythene. It is almost impossible for all to control the torn tiny pieces being spread here and there. When we lack proper daily waste collection and treatment in the country, the best approach is to control it at manufacturing level. Prevention is better than cure. more
More than throwing garbage, not sorting into biodegradable, recyclable and hazardous waste at source can more dangerous. It can also generate some income. All through the modern world, Bio-degradable waste and solar are the lone sources of energy. Many of the wastes an be turned into animal feed, especially pig feed. All other wastes need not be collected daily provided they are separated at source. more
SWATCH BHARAT SLOGAN IS DENGEROUS but can be corrected CAUTION AGAINST SEPTIC TANKS FOR SHOUCHALAYAS: It is well known that 15,000 liters of good water is used to flush 35 kg feces and 500 Litre urine per person per year. One click of flush drains out 18 liters of filtered portable water. Septic tanks can be dangerous as the can pollute well water especially in congested and low lying areas. Besides this, the periodic cleaning of septic tanks by dumping of “septage” which has highly concentrated pathogens like E.Coli which can cause significant health and environmental damage. On the other hand there are immense possibilities of using human and animal urine by using separation toilets. It involves a simple modification of regular commode allowing urine and solid human waste to be collected in seperate tanks. It is often not recognized that human urine contains 11-1-2% respectively of N-P-K (Sodium-Phosphorous-Potassium) which if properly harvested can be a good source of fertilizer for agriculture which the government currently subsidizes incurring huge economic loss. An average person voids 350-700ml of urine 4-7 times a day. The normal range is 800 to 2000 milliliters per day with normal fluid intake [www.nlm.nih.gov /medlineplus/ ency /article/ 003425.htm] [en.wikipedia.org/ wiki/ Fluid balance‎] Human urine being acidic can to an extent be used in alkaline soil. A dairy cow excretes 25 liters urine/day or 9000 liters annually. This urine being alkaline can be highly useful for correcting (acidic) soil. more
