Chinese entreprenurs/scientists will eat out lunch.

A team of Chinese scientists have developed a large-scale transparent smart window that can change light intensity while effectively capturing the particulate matter in smog.

My fellow Indian entrepreneurs, why are we not inventing any such things?

Govt- why are you not funding air quality startups???

Dear Vinita ji, Have you made a thorough survey of technologies under development in the Indian scientific arena before writing this piece? You pick up some isolated example from some Chinese company and start deprecating all & sundry. This kind of self-defeating attitude is not good for the country. I am not saying everything is hunky dory but it is we citizens who have to take the lead in solving problems rather than blaming everybody else. And before comparing our country to China please do consider the closed nature of Chinese polity where one is not free to express views like you are doing on this forum. more
Unlike China, India is made to loot for more than 1000 years that includes this modern era. Indians converted to great followers and chance of leadership is not visible in the horizon. But, we can change it with our will power and start work in the lost science of India. Before that, the system need to develop to create confidence among the 80% people who don't know what is India means to them. more
I think you have got your facts a little wrong here .. our fellow Indian entrepreneurs are already doing a hell of a lot in this Area .. In R&D, you cannot Predict what is going to come out of any Research .. You just keep on trying .. Some Succeed & some Do Not .. That's It !!!! Besides, China is over 6 or 7 times India in GDP terms .. so expect that the R&D and Startups will follow the more Lucrative path here .. Only then will get them to try out other things .... more
Vinita, there is lack of enthusiasm, risk taking ability, innovative thinking n lack of encouragement are the key factors. Moreover, there are many technical institutes, universities they always cry for fund without working . Our country needs applied research n not academic research. Only n only applied research should be encouraged without any politics. What you have explained may be yet to be practically tried n commercially produced. Our country has biggest problem of dust mainly due to the desert lands n construction material. more
Indian govt is presently occupied in gathering votes. For them parliament berth is top priority rest all later more
