INCREASE OF GENERAL COACHES IN LONG ROUTE TRAINS

I had been travelling regularly since 1967 to 1988 at least two /three times in a year and most of the times are in general compartment where you have not even access to bathroom for natural calls due to overloaded passengers and their personal belongings. At times I had to carry my luggage / service kits on my head and standing for hours together from Suratghar, Sirsa, Bikaner, Bhatinda, Ambala to my home town and other locations while on duty.
Since I had resigned and shifted my job I had other facilities to travel comfortably.
In the recent two years again I had to travel to short locations for pilgrimage, visit the temple etc on short notice and due to non availability of reservation and I find the passengers struggling in the General compartment to meet their needs, to have little space to keep their leg on the floor, to stand in the compartment with their personal belonging etc. The reserved compartment will be normally consists of 22 to 25 compartments in long route trains and I find there will be two general compartments (one at the engine side and one at the end (guard side) and a ladies compartment that all jam-packed and small children were crying due to heavy heat, no proper ventilation, no place for seating and other basic needs. I would request all community members and in general who worked in the railways and other ministries and senior persons who held their various offices and positions in different departments to influence the railways and to increase the number of general compartments in all long route trains to have a seat in the train and to have basic access to their natural calls and to place their leg on the train during their long journey that extends more than 24 hours continuous journey from various parts of the country. When the officials and other members can have comfortable journey for all parts with their troops on required basis, why a common person can not have at least basic facilities and comforts while they travel either for a vacation or to meet their near and dear or a pilgrimage trip etc. Hope the authorities would look into this problems and try to alleviate such incidents in the future.
