Gotmaar a kind of stone throwing at each other is celebrated in Chindwara District of Madhya Pradesh for the last 500 years or more. In 2019, 400( Four Hundred) People were injured, 12 (Twelve) of them seriously.
State Govt support above heinous crime in the name of a cultural tradition by bearing the treatment charges of all the above people for no benefit.
Please stop this crime for ever.

Previously some time back one District Collector had tried to ban this mela. Thanks for his wholehearted efforts. But citizens from this town including politicians had shown displeasure and opposed the move. Many of the old traditional things like SATI and CHILD MARRIAGES had been banned by law and decisions of banning these old traditional rituals were welcomed by society in larger interest of human betterment and human peaceful life. Now there is need to ban such badly motivated traditional rituals by making a stringent law at State Level. i.e. at the Legislature Assembly. Many lives are lost and many more are victimized due to permanent disability or blindness due to injuries in eyes. Those who are involved with blind believes in the GOTMAR i.e. throwing of stones mela are belonging to poor families and cannot afford post injuries medical charges . Further, the dependents of the deceased families have to suffer life long due to loosing only an earning member of their family. This is a kind of curse to the society and truly a heinous crime too.
My opinion is that the issue can be raised by public elected representative in the house of assembly; since these public representatives are also coming from the common public life knowing all the facts and also claiming themselves as public servant and fight for public welfare and not only to get satisfied with their political ambitions & hunger for power. more
