No one will have a feeling that he is in the main railway station of the national capital.
None of the platforms and the tracks are clean.
Station is over crowded and suffering from sound pollution. Due to crowd everything is unsystematic. Walking on the platforms, particularly, on platform no.1 is difficult.
Current booking counters are always over crowded with big ques. If any one is in hurry to get a ticket, he will either have to travel without ticket or miss the train.
The porters are just looting the passengers. Despite crowd their is no sign of presence of security/RPF personnel and the security issue is left on the God.
Waiting halls are in a very bad shape. AC waiting hall is below standard and unable to accommodate number of passengers passing through ND station.
The station has as many as 16 platforms and if any passenger on platform-1 needs to go to platform-16 or vice versa, it becomes very difficult and time consuming. Surprisingly, the railways could not yet provide escalator even to this station.
While trains approach this station from up & down sides, the surroundings give such ugly & dirty looks that we ourselves feel ashamed of but the railways are happy with the situation for decades and never feel it necessary to renovate at least to hide our perverted taste from the foreign nationals who are every now and then visiting the capital city. In fact cleanliness has little relationship with financial capacity, rather it depends on one's inclination and we are proving every day as to what is our inclination!
