Municipal corporation

have been to various states and never found garbage collection and disposal as bad as in Chennai. If there is a system of ranking corporations in India , I am sure Chennai Corporation will be in the bottom most position. There is no clear system of segregation /collection and disposal by the corporation . Several roads are never swept clean .Most of the dustbins are by itself a source of an epidemic .The collection lorry cannot mechanically lift and clean the entire waste from the bins. The attitude of the department personnel is as dirty as the garbage left uncleaned ! The lorries are seldom clean, collected waste is never covered and they keep dropping the collected waste along its path on the roads and the drivers of vehicles behind them are very adjusting type! Drains are never cleaned but the authorities use their power to 'inspect' households and instruct them against having plant pots etc but do little in public places where mosquitoes breed the most! The corporation personnel know little about the cause of diseases and the corporation probably doesnt educate their staff on the need for cleanliness . Chennai corporation must emulate Gujarat model and only then they can eradicate SWINE FLU type of communicable diseases. PREVENTION and not giving medicine must be their aim. A strong will to clean the city is needed , becoming a smart city needs this foundation !
