The present system is mixed garbage collection. Even if the wet & dry are stored separately they mix it up while collecting.

There is no proper collection. There is BMC directive for wet & dry separate keeping but there is no facility for separate collection. The point where garbage is loaded is left in a filthy state. BMC placed flimsy double bins on the road at many places. But from day one they were destined to be useless. Some supplier enjoyed at our cost without an iota of improvement.
Kalpana Rangan Whenever they collect garbage, they leave behind some including cut branches of trees. All these should be collected properly. Also they should install garbage bins every 1km. and garbage should be collected from the smaller bins too.

I live in Chembur opposite Union Park on the Ghatla Village Road. Garbage van comes every morning but it collects garbage from the bins. Lots of garbage is thrown outside and these are not collected by the MMC. Also branches of trees cut and thrown on footpaths are not collected. There is an open ground at the far end of the road which is used as a dumping ground. The MMC never picks up the garbage from that place. For efficient clearing of garbage a representative of every street should meet the MMC once a month and apprise them of the garbage to be collected in their area. Even garbage collectors should attend this meeting. More number of garbage bins have to be installed.

Kalpana Rangan (Chembur) Garbage collection from societies is done everyday. However, branches of trees cut and thrown on the footpaths are hardly collected. Also garbage thrown by some shops on open areas are not collected. This leaves the streets dirty.
Preferably at fixed times in night proper garbage collection should be done.Garbage collection bins should have proper wheels & place surrounding must be clean.
